The cyber-cafe I chilling at has blocked access to everything not on port 80.....everything! I shudder and wither and generally feel that my interweb experience has been robbed when I have no remote shell. Mental note: when I get back to civilization, I need to set up a proxy on that bad boy.
But first: Livejournal.
Recently, one of the people to whom I'm boss just didn't show up to work one day. And didn't show up the next day, and the next day, and the next day.....and the next day we Googled him and came up with this.
Its strange how things come together in retrospect: the night that he was (as we later learned) arrested, we were four rounds into a fine happy hour when he just jumped up and bolted out of the room. We were peeved that he didn't cover his tab, but it turns out he was arrested less 2 hours later.
Another example: we thought it was odd when he demanded (not asked, demanded) that we pay him via check and not direct deposit, but didn't think much of it since we're a quirk-tolerant workplace. Turns out one of the companies he defrauded, the one that is currently bringing charges, happens to be the one we use to process our payroll. I imagine he must have shit a brick when he saw their logo on our payroll forms, hence the demands that we not do direct deposit for him, but what he couldn't've known was that Paychex would be getting his information anyway: we hire them to process our paper payroll checks as well ;)
