Genealogy? - Things have transpired in such a way that I now have ancestors. Not, like, "our forefathers"-type abstract ancestors, or great-gramma's ramblings-type ancestors, but a documented lineage, with names and dates, going back several centuries. This is a result of an extensive geneological project spearheaded by my grandmother's cousin....something he's been working on literally for decades....that culminated in a 300-page bound volume sent to all living descendants. Considering how notoriously scattered and insular folks in my family tend to be, its really quite an accomplishment on his part.
Fun facts about Aether's lineage: I'm Catholic? Or rather, my mom was apparently the first unbaptised person in an unbroken string of English Catholics dating back nearly a 1,000 years, to at least as early as Hugh de Malbisse, who was a captain serving under William the Conquerer? Also: I apparently qualify to be a
Son of the American Revolution, on account of ol' great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granpappy McDaniel's service in the Pennsylvania minutemen. Pretty crazy stuff. Social and logistical hassles aside, I'd be really curious to poke around into the lineage on my paternal side....a bit more exotic and less solidly English...to see what peculiarities pop up.
