Three drops of bleach, two pinches of salt, and one palmful of sugar....mixed into one tall glass of water.
I think one of the single most useful things I learned in PC was the oral rehydration solution....even two years after coming back, I still can't any pharmaceutical product quite so effective at relieving gastrointestinal distress. (Anna sees me mixing this concotion and thinks I'm losing my marbles, I suspect.)
I can imagine a great infomerical testimonial...
Volunteer: "When I was in Africa, I had to deal with some of the worst diarrhea around, and what do I trust? Oral rehydration solution. Nothing else provides the fast relief I need"
Announcer: "Nine of ten PCVs prefer ORS over the leading brand of wierd pink tablets that come in your med kit and turn your gums black."
