I really like living on our acreage but the rural living does have some disadvantages. The worst for me is the less than speedy "high speed" internet that we have. It's much faster than dial-up but it doesn't work well for live streaming videos. (even short ones)
There is a lot of time spent "buffering". It looks like that might change however. The tower that we receive our satellite internet from has been upgraded to LTE. If we have clear line-of-sight from the tower to our home (no hills or too many trees in between) then we will be upgrading. I should know more in a week to 10 days. I'm not excited yet but I am hopeful. Yesterday I helped Hubby run "cat" cable from our router down to my craft room in the basement. The wireless signal is "iffy" at best downstairs so this will definitely be a plus. When Hubby started work at his new job he told me to order myself an new Mac to use for photo editing and craft projects. I should be receiving my new 21.5 inch iMac tomorrow. My old Mac is really slow and too old to upgrade the operating system. As a result many things don't work the way they are supposed to. I'll take my photos and craft ideas off of it and then keep it for the grandkids to play on when they are over. I may even move my Alienware computer downstairs so that I'm not playing WOW wirelessly, but I haven't decided for sure. I don't know if I have room for both.
I haven't done any photography for quite some time. I got some harsh criticism from my brother and sort of gave up on it. He is an excellent photographer but not a great teacher or mentor. Anyway, I've decided to put on my big girl panties and forge ahead. My first project will be a photo essay of different objects from A to Z so that I can re-familiarize myself with my camera. Our oldest daughter wants me to try taking family photos in the early fall. Much practice is needed.
My knees are feeling better after the cortisone shots and hopefully the shots will remain effective of 3 or 4 months. Most days I have to take something for pain, but not as often or as many as I was before the shots.
We've had periods of rain the last few days but I will have to water the tomatoes and zucchini plants this evening because they are close to the house and depending on the wind direction don't get as much rain as the vegetable garden that's located further away from the house. Things are growing but slowly, probably because spring was quite cool this year. In fact, we are still sleeping with a blanket on our bed. Hopefully summer will be nice and warm and the plants will start growing in earnest.
Well, I've been puttering and surfing all morning so I suppose I should actually do something productive.
