Today was a super day. Teddy woke up at his usual (at least lately) early hour, but after letting him out I put him back in his kennel hoping for 1 more hour of sleep. He slept or at least was content for a couple of hours! WooHoo! I felt really rested when we finally got up which is nice because lately I've not slept very well.
Our daughters and I had our marathon (not as long as last year) cabbage roll making session today. We ended up with a total of 95 cabbage rolls. Last year we made over 160 which was a little crazy. This was more manageable and far less exhausting. I kept 30 and the girls divvied up the remainder. Hubby is taking a few back up north with him tomorrow and the rest are packaged up, labeled and in the deep freeze.
Maggie and I went for our usual longer Saturday walk after the girls went home and then I made a double batch of ham and pasta for supper. It's one of Hubby's favorites so he is taking some of that back with him too. I froze a single portion to see how mushy the pasta will get after being frozen, thawed and heated up. The rest is in a casserole dish and I will have it for supper a couple of times this week. I'm not big on left overs but I don't like cooking for just myself much so at least this way I will have a couple of real meals instead of a just a sandwich or worse, junk food.
Today I'm thankful for:
1. A couple of extra hours of sleep.
2. Time spent with our girls, making memories and cabbage rolls.
3. My Sensy - a flame-less candle warmer. I love the smell of cabbage rolls cooking, but I don't want the house to smell of cabbage for days afterward.
