It rained this morning so Maggie and I didn't go out for our walk until after lunch. It was very windy and humid and the air was redolent with the scent of wild flowers, in particular Wild Rose. We have quite a bit of Wild Rose or Prickly Rose on our property and it is in full bloom right now.
These are just behind our little vegetable garden.
Here are a couple of other pictures of different wild flowers growing on our acreage.
My dad used to tell me that when you could see the underside of the aspen leaves it was going to rain. This afternoon with all the wind you could definitely see the underside of the leaves and we got another good soaking about 6:00pm. The wind has since died down some, the clouds have moved off and the air is lovely, fresh and light. I'm listening to the birds singing and watching the trees sway in the evening sun. Glorious!
I vacuumed and dusted while it rained this morning and baked apple squares this afternoon for our Bible study group meeting this evening. Unfortunately there was a power outage in town so our meeting was cancelled. Our oldest daughter and family came over for dinner instead since they were without electricity and surprisingly mine was still on. We enjoyed some of the apple squares for dessert and I sent some home with them. There is still quite a few pieces left for Hubby to have when he gets home tomorrow.
I was supposed to go fishing with SIL tomorrow, but he realized that he has an appointment so my tomorrow is pretty much open. I wonder what the day will hold. Perhaps the work on our driveway will begin. The company we contracted called this evening and they will begin work on Friday unless their scheduled Thursday job is cancelled in which case they will start tomorrow. By the 15th we could have a paved driveway. It will be much easier to clear in the winter and won't be a mucky mess in the spring anymore. Too bad in a way; now that I have my Jeep Wrangler I wouldn't have any trouble navigating the driveway in the spring. I guess I'll have to look further afield to find mud so I can get my Jeep nice and dirty.
Time to take the dogs out and get them settled for the night. It's 9:45pm and it's still light out. I love this time of year. Not too hot, cool evenings and lots of daylight hours.
