I think it was the summer right after I finished chemo (2006) that I remember seeing lots of dragonflies. I know that I was amazed at how many there were. The dragonflies are back again this summer in big numbers, probably due our huge mosquito population. (it's one of their primary food sources) They are beautiful to look at and I'm always sad when I see one that has died for what ever reason. From what I've read, the winged stage of their life is relatively short. They spend most of their life in water in the larva stage. (up to three years depending on the species) I wonder if the abundance of food and all the rain this summer will mean huge numbers of dragonflies in a couple of years.
