Yesterday Hubby and I worked outside. The culverts at the end of our driveway needed attention. We cut back growth, dug stuff up, layed geo-textile and then arranged the rocks and bricks we had brought in last summer. We used the bricks over geo-textile to line the exits at either end of the pipe. The lawn tractor can't get that close and now we won't have scraggly weeds growing there. We used the rocks over the geo-textile to cover over top of the culvert pipe. I don't have a picture just yet but will be taking one in a day or two. The temperature was perfect for working outside 13 C or 55 F. Today though, that's a whole other story. It is hovering around the freezing mark and with the wind chill it feels like -8 C or 21 F. Brrrr.
Around 5:00pm yesterday the wind picked up and the temperature fell several degrees in an hour. It started to rain but it quickly turned to snow. The yard is white again. We desperately need the moisture and the snow will be melted by later today or tomorrow. The wind was blowing close to 60 km per hour (37 mph) much of the night and it is still blowing at 40+ km per hour (27 mph).
It doesn't look like we lost any trees although our rain barrel did blow over and rolled towards our vegetable garden plot. Our daughter called early this morning to warn us that it was very slippery outside; in fact both her and the grandkids fell on the way to the bus stop. I imagine the morning commute was pretty treacherous too.
Spring is so unpredictable. You have to go with the flow.
spring,
weather,
wind,
snow
