Hubby is on his way home. He had to stay at work later than usual today so he won't be home until some time around 1:00 am. I'm not too sleepy yet but that could change. I'm not the night owl I used to be and even though it's 3 years post cancer treatment I find that I am fine one minute and then suddenly I'm very tired and need to go to sleep. The dogs on neighbouring acreages are barking right now so that will help keep me awake.
The turkey soup made the house smell wonderful. I really enjoy the light easy fare of summer and love just about any kind of salad but by the end of summer I start to crave "comfort" food. Things like home made soup and macaroni and cheese baked in the oven.
I spent the day puttering around the house; cleaning, laundry, and I went through a huge pile of paper that I had accumulated while in the army reserves. There is a little more room in the filing cabinet now and the shredder got another work out today. It was amazing to discover how many duplicates of the same memo or letter I had filed away. The military seems to be big on redundancy.
Sophie has finally begun her rock collection for September but today she spent most of her time sleeping. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow to have her checked over. She seemed to have a bit of an upset tummy. She had one messy accident this morning but thankfully no others. She's like a goat; she'll eat just about anything. Hopefully she'll be her usual perky self tomorrow but I'll still take her to vet regardless.
Ahhhhh, silence. The dogs outside have quieted down. I'm starting to get sleepy. I hope Hubby gets home soon.
