total mystery
Yesterday I noticed huge purple bruises on both of my legs. Just below the knees. These bruises are fist size and I have no idea how I got them. I don't remember falling back on to anything or anything hitting my legs. They are a bit tender which is to be expected given that they are bruises. I was a bit concerned though. I bruise easily... alway have but more so since my chemo treatments. Fortunately I had an appointment at the Cross Cancer Institute today.... regular six month checkup to do with clinical study that I'm in. I asked my oncologist if they were something to be concerned about. She said no, given that I have no other adverse or weird symptoms. She says that it looks like I was hit because the bruises are in the same place on both legs. I mentioned to her that I had been taking Motrin for a few days... maximum dosage due to a very stiff neck. She said that Motrin and other ibuprofen products reduce the ability of blood to clot so it could result in "unexplained" bruising. Note to self..... perhaps I should lay off Motrin for a while and if I require something for the aches and pain of Tamoxifen treatment I should go with Tylenol. The only thing I've done that is different is go to a football game. Maybe jumping up every time Edmonton made a touchdown I banged my legs on the seat. Who knows!? I'm just glad that they aren't serious. Everything else checks out fine so I'll been seen again in 6 months for a mammogram and blood work. Everything except that I've gained some weight. *sigh* Time to get up off of my fat butt and start exercising more.
