stuff

I don't really need belly rubs but I've been a little blah lately so it seemed appropriate.
Why is it when I cook a pot of potatoes to make potato salad the aroma is so much more pleasant than cooking a pot of potatoes to make mashed potatoes? Perhaps it's because I know what the end product will be and potato salad, while hardly exotic is not as common place as mashed potatoes. (at least in this house) Regardless, my warm kitchen is filled with the aroma of potatoes that have been cooked for potato salad. They are now cooling and in a little while I'll start peeling them. Potato salad always tastes a lot better if it has had a chance to "meld" as Hubby puts it.
The warm weather continues and it's supposed to stay through Monday. It should be more pleasant on Tuesday as temperatures return to near normal range. :o) I enjoy summer but I'm not a big fan of really hot weather. Temperatures in the mid 70's is my idea of perfect. We had a nice breeze all day so it didn't feel as warm as it actually was. I was shocked when Hubby noted that it was 26C / 78F in the house.
Today was more outside maintenance. I weeded the flower bed and pulled stray weeds from the shale beds and from between the sidewalk stones. The grass seed that I planted has come up so the lawn is looking a little better now.
I've been close to tears most of the day. Every little thing frustrates the heck out of me. I did cry when I realized that I had missed Teddy's sign to go out so he pooped in the house. *sigh* I don't know how that happened. Since listing the house I feel like I'm in a holding pattern. I make sure the house is clean and tidy twice a day but beyond household stuff I do very little. I can't seem to get interested in making cards, I can't settle down and read a book and I seem unable to solve anything but the simplest of Sudoku puzzles. My brain can't focus it seems. Hopefully either the house sells quickly and we find a place or I get used to playing the waiting game and start to function more normal. (normal for me at any rate)
I did sleep a bit better last night. Not a lot of hours (about 5) but I don't recall waking up more than once and it was so brief that I'm not certain that I did wake up. I was still tired when I got up and almost fell asleep while sitting on the sofa in the living room this afternoon.
I think I'll watch some fluff movie that doesn't take much brain power to follow after I put together the potato salad.

yard work, blah, weather
