personality: Sora is a breakaway from Square-Enix's usual protagonist. He trades in the emo and tragedy for sunshine and rainbows a more out-going and cheerful personality.

He's pretty much a typical cheerful and carefree 16-year-old boy that just so happens to be the savior of the worlds. He once spent his days planning adventures and training with wooden swords, getting in play fights against his best friend Riku. He really wants nothing more than to be able to hang out with his friends, doing whatever, and is content to spend his time that way. To Sora, friends are the world, and his source of strength. This tends to make Sora seem immature and childish -- and to a point, he is. But he's also what is needed in a keyblade master. Brave, determined, willing to put his life on the line for someone he's never even met. Sora is the protector of light for a reason.

While Sora may be considered not as mature as his close friend Riku, he is certainly a brave little adventurer. When his home was struck by a fierce storm, Sora braved it to save the raft he and his friends had made. When he realized there were strange creatures there, he didn't back down. He fought against them, not even knowing what they were, in a desperate bid to find his friends. If he was scared, he didn't show it. He just stood up and did what he had to do. When someone is in trouble, Sora will be the first one running to help them, no matter how many people are running away. Whether he knows them doesn't matter. Whether they are his enemy doesn't matter. It's a person in trouble, who needs his help, and that's all that counts. He doesn't do it for glory or notoriety. He does it because it's the right thing.

Sora's loyalty, his dedication to finding and protecting his friends, the pure light in Sora's heart, and the fact he gave his life to save Kairi is just a small part of what makes him such a good person. He may not be as competent as those around him, but he never fails to try and handle a situation with the best of his ability, giving it one hundred and ten percent when necessary. He possesses a strong sense of justice and an unrelenting heart. At times, he is impulsive and quick to anger, but he is always sincere about what he says and does. He rarely, if ever, shows his fear, and doesn't back down from a challenge.

Unfortunately, as comes with the territory of being a teenager, Sora can be quite brash and stubborn. He'll refuse to listen to others if he is convinced he's right, and has the habit of accidentally disrespecting those in a higher position then him until corrected. He's willful, and highly competitive, not hesitating to take charge of the group when faced with challenge, and tends to be a nit of a show-off.

Possibly because he was raised on an island, Sora sometimes falls into the more naive side of the spectrum. He's not stupid, but he tends to believe people, mostly his friends, when they tell him something. However, it does seem that it remains in the area of his friends, as his enemies have failed to trick him multiple times.

Despite what one might be led to believe because of his status as the protector of light and Keyblade Master, Sora does carry darkness in his heart. If he didn't, he wouldn't have an anti-form.

Swordmanship:
Because of years of fighting against Riku with wooden swords, Sora's level of sword fighting appears to be high, extending to his use of the keyblade.

Keyblade:
Sora is the Master of the Keyblade, the one chosen to fight for the side of light and protect the worlds. He is able to fight off the Heartless and Nobodies, for the most part, with ease thanks to it's power. After his fight with Roxas, he is able to weild two keyblades, and at one point, even three. Magic:
Sora possesses the ability to use powerful magic, by channeling it through his keyblade.

As of Kingdom Hearts II, he also possesses what are called "Drive Forms", that with the help of those in his party, help him unlock other powers. There are six of them: Valor, Wisdom, Limit, , Final, and Anti.

[ There is in fact a little bumping around as Sora tried to make the junogam work. He will get it one day. He really will. FINALLY AFTER >9000 YEARS, his..eye appears on the screen. Oops, too close there buddy. He pulls it back, so finally his grinning face can be seen. ]

Kairi! We're coming up on a new town! Why don't me and you and Nill head into it to look around? It'll be fun to look around and get some fresh air.

[ Just as he goes to turn it off, he seems to remember something. ]

--And don't let Nill refuse! She needs a tan!

third-person sample:
Three hours in, and Sora hadn't covered even half of the caravan. He'd set out to explore earlier in the day, waving Kairi -- who was going to hang out with some of the girls she had met -- off with a wide grin and a promise to meet up for lunch at noon. But with the rate at which his exploration was going, he might have to give up the chance to find out just what was hidden behind door number five. He was torn two ways: Find out more about the giant hotel-like thing that served as his home, or go out for lunch with one of his best friends.

..Hard one.

Eventually, his hunger and desire to see the red-head won out, and he was racing his way back up the stairs and through the various doors of the caravan. The sun blinded him for a moment as he emerged, covering his eyes just enough so he could see down the hall. Was Kairi on her way yet?

Lunch wasn't going to be a fancy thing, but finally getting to spend time with her after not seeing her for...almost two years, he was excited. All they needed was Riku, and the three of them could go exploring the worlds together, just like they'd planned! And with the different towns they were supposed to get to visit, the possibility of getting bored seemed pretty low. It was a pretty win-win situation, he figured. He got to see more worlds, and this time with his friends. If it took him a little longer to actually get back to the islands..well, he could deal with that. With Kairi ( and hopefully Riku, soon. ) by his side, everything would be fine.

He made an attempt to smooth his ever defiant hair, face lighting up in a goofy grin as he glanced down the hall once more. A flash of red hair had him running forward, stopping just short of crashing into the girl in his eagerness, looking properly abashed. "Hey, Kairi! Did you have fun?" His hands tucked into his pockets, rocking on the balls of his feet. When she gave an affirmative, he smile again, reaching out to grab her hand.

"C'mon! Let's go get some lunch! I have so much to tell you, Kairi!"
