Today I learned that my boss will no longer manage my group, but another person from our office will be taking over as our manager. This person is very nice, but I've never worked with her directly, so I have no data points on how this will go.
I am not good with change, and we've had so much goodness with my current team and boss over the past 2 years. We've really made incredible strides and had a lot of fun doing it.
Fortunately my boss is moving on to manage a bigger group that needs him more, and it's a great career path for him. He's basically taking over for a VP that left, and then some. So, that's good for him! He's often said that managing our group is his favorite part of the job (he managed several small teams). Since he's been awesome for my growth & happiness at work, I feel protective about his interests, but this seems like an awesome move.
I'm also at a hormonal time of the month, and have been stressing out about reigning my weight back in. I have a small frame and gain weight in my belly, so 5-8lbs = me not fitting into my pants. I have had difficulty finding balance in this because not stressing leads to indulgences (damn, they add up quickly!) & lack of motivation to exercise, while motivation & discipline have been successful in terms of the scale and pants metrics, but have been leading to stressing out. I mean, 6 lbs of belly is the definition of a first world problem. WTF lower-order parts of my brain?
Yeah, "don't sweat the small stuff", but how do you get the motivation to sweat, while not sweating it? Tips appreciated, but I'm guessing it's a subtlety thing.
Anyhow, I've been taking some awesome exercise classes and have really been enjoying the positive physical feedback (in terms of just having my muscles & joints feel good). Just gotta intercept the stress feedback loop.
