I heard yesterday that Kelly Clarkson had canceled her tour this summer, and was curious to hear what the reasons were. It's one thing to cancel a few dates, but to cancel an entire tour is, of course, quite a bit bigger than that.
I was thinking it was something more scandalous: pregnancy came to mind, or illness on her or someone elses part.
According to Yahoo!Music, it's simply low ticket sales. Now, that could just be a smokescreen. She's been having some... "creative issues" with Clive Davis, and unless you are someone with clout coming out your ears, he's not really someone you want to cross. I'm wondering if the next news item regarding Kelly Clarkson will be an announcement that she's been dropped from RCA.
I'm also curious when they're planning to re-launch a tour. They mentioned in the article that she's apparently not selling out venues (though I think that's the case with a lot of artists), and they'll be re-organizing the tour to include smaller venues (instead of an arena tour). The release date for her album is June 26, so they can't postpone this tour for a year... that's an important part of the album cycle, especially for a pop musician.
I'm not a big fan of Kelly Clarkson, though some of her songs are fun to listen to on the radio. That new song of hers drives me iiiiiiiiiiinsaaaaane... I don't know if it's because I have had it drilled into me through voice lessons that silent breath is key, but after almost every single sentance in that song she takes this huUuuuUUuUuUuUuuge breath, as though she's been running for days. It would be easy enough to remove from the track (or, really, to not breathe that way to begin with, since she's standing in a studio, not running the Boston Marathon), so I have to assume it's a conscious decision to add to the frantic, angry tone of the song. Though as mentioned, it drives me insane, and my brain focuses right in on it any time I hear the song.
And one picky thing: I haven't ever seen an interview with Kelly Clarkson, I don't know anything about her besides her being the American Idol who actually was able to carve a career out of that god forsaken show, so I don't know if she's that "valley girl" type. But in the aforementioned article, she uses the word "obviously" 4 or 5 times within two paragraphs. That just made me crazy.
