Good Things

So I have my interview on Wednesday at a University in Chicago. I was contacted on Wednesday afternoon for an interview at an adoption agency for an interview as Assistant Adoption Coordinator. As far as I know, it's not anything to do with interviewing potential parents or anything - it's just an assistant for the Adoption Coordinator. She asked if I could see her Friday (today), but I asked to meet Tuesday. Two interviews in as many days! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but also trying to stay realistic. LOL.

Signed the lease for the new place Wednesday evening. The landlords are really nice. I met the man when checking out the apartment, but hadn't met his wife yet. I'm going to get the keys on June 16th - she has planned a surprise party for her daughter's 15th birthday the day before, so that's fine, I can be flexible (even though I'm dying to get in there!). I figure it would be easier on a Saturday (16th) than Friday anyway. Moving day was set yesterday - Sunday, June 24. The moving company has rave reviews, and they're being particularly great to us - they don't usually come out this far to move as part of their local service, but they're making an exception.

Yesterday I went to take part in a focus group. Easiest $100 I have ever made in my life. We sat around for two hours and talked about soap operas. I have never done one before, but you can bet I'd be willing to do one again. There was at least one person there who had done them before. Won't replace a job, of course, but sometimes they have them in the evening or on weekends. And once I'm living in Chicago, I'll be nearer to them - and actually, eligible for more of them; some marketing groups only want people in certain ZIP codes - in Chicago or in the immediately surrounding suburbs. At present, I'm too far west.

So I've got lots of things to do this weekend - some shopping, preparing for interviews, working on a tutorial for MS Excel & Access (and Publisher, if I can get to that one too), visiting the university campus to check the place out... it feels so much better having something to do than just hanging out here all day!

focus groups, job prospects, good news, new apartment
