your love is like a roller coaster baby, baby, i wanna ride

so everything's fine. i was being crazy. i'm still put off by the guy, john's friend, but now i know he wasn't a druggie and i was making that part up. i'm not a huge fan of his personality. he's a bit obnoxious and he smells like cheapo cologne/body stank/baby power/somethingorother. it's not that he stinks, i just can smell him and i don't like the smell of him.

john's staying the night again. i love it when he does, but i'm so afraid that his dad will find out, and he'll be grounded til i'm far away in A school. it's just so nice to have someone warm in the bed with you... especially since i'm always chilled until i fall asleep. i also am reading memoirs of a geisha to him (i love reading aloud to him, i'm kind of a nerd), so he can have "read" the book before we go see the movie.

HOLY CRAP, they're making it into a movie.
give me a moment to vent my frustration that zhang ziyi is playing sayuri. SHE IS NOT EVEN JAPANESE. most people can't tell the difference, but to me it's like casting cheech marin as Yassir Arafat. or samuel l. jackson as che guevara. it's not the same!! sure, chinese and japanese might as well be the same to just about everyone... but it's just glaringly obvious in my eyes. jenn can probably relate... white people tend to think all Asian people are the same race, even though they can't even pick what race they think it is.

i mean... i just realized that might've been offensive...? i'm sorry if that offended you in any way jenn... i don't know why it would, but... x_x

anyway. a chinese woman as a geisha. WHAT THE BYL. also, ANOTHER chinese chick is playing Mameha! does it never end! at least they got ken watanabe (katsumoto from the last samurai) to be the Chairman... i'm surprised they didn't use like. jet li or chow yun fat or friggin' kim jong il even. THEY'RE ALL THE SAME, RIGHT? arg. i don't even know why it makes me this mad. it's frustrating i suppose because this book is so dear to me... i feel like i know it inside and out. it's so good!

by the way, anyone who hasn't read it, please do. it moves very quickly... it's one of those can't-put-down books, even the third time i read it (i just re-finished it last night). it's just... such a marvelous story. *sob*

chinese women as geisha.... *shakes head* okay, i'm in a rut now. i forget what else i was even going to talk about. i'm happy Hastumomo is played by a Japanese; at least they got one in there. i can't wait to see how they make Nobu look... i'm secretly hoping he'll be more handsome than he's described in the book, even though i know his whole deal is that he's scarred and scary looking.

wow, as i give the book all away. what fun.

i'm done! really!

... it would be like casting j.lo as frida kahlo.
ok, NOW i'm done!!
