Awesomeness!
So today was the first day back, and the work itself was... "Meh." My coworker kept busy since there were actually 2 of us gone during the same time, and he had to cover both labs. He was going to focus on the stuff in our lab since that's his primary lab, but the boss gave him heck for letting stuff pile up in the other lab. This forced him to do some work in the other lab, so he didn't get as much done as he wanted to.
Anyways, this should be the only time that it happens (like once a year) since the two of them have 6 weeks vacation while I only get 3.
That said, I took it easy when I started by going through my pile of e-mails. Only when I finished with those did I go into the lab to see what was going on.
Of course everyone would ask how it was, so beyond the vacation itself (which was super fun!), I got to tell everyone the nightmare story of my flight coming back.
Anywho, one of the e-mails sitting in my inbox was from my boss which said she wanted to see me when I got back. So after doing some work in the lab, I went to see what was up. There were a few items that she wanted to talk to me about, but one of them...
Remember the presentation I mentioned a while back? It was done and over with, and I received positive feedback for it, so I didn't think much of it. Well... Apparently, all of us involved (3 of us) were getting "recognition" for the extra work we put in to make it happen! AKA free money. $100 max to be exact.
I did the actual presentation, but one of my coworkers helped a lot in putting it together. The other was responsible for the lab portion since they came in to take a look around, and chat about what we actually do in there.
But yeah! $100 to spend on anything I wanted!! That is super awesome~
haha, I already spent it all by getting a new connection cable for my ipod (though I got a shorter one... Only 0.5m long, rather than the original 1m length) and spent the rest ($75) on an iTunes gift card! Woot~ I was going to have to get one anyways, but it's so much nicer when someone else is paying for it! \(^o^)/
And that is my good news of the day! Because other than that, it was really hard to get back into the work routine. Rather than the summer clothes I got to wear during our trip, I'm stuck with long pants (jeans) and sneakers all day... Bleh. But time for sleep! Still need to catch up on it, since I'm not fully recovered from the jet lag. At least, feels like I can sleep lots still XD
