TV time!

What am I watching? Well let me tell ya!

Sense8 on Netflix: OMFG I LOVE THIS! Some people find the first five episodes sort of a slog to get through, but I really, really don't. I love the primary 8 characters and most of the people in their lives. Such a fascinating and well done story. It has problems (of course), but overall it's epic.

Killjoys on SyFy: Only two episodes in and I really, really love it. There was one thing I did not enjoy in the first episode (a rape threat against the lead female) but it was over fairly quickly and so far has not been repeated. The characters are engaging, the story interesting, the world unique and I freely admit the three leads are pretty as hell and that pleases me. The two male leads are brothers (John and D'avin), but that doesn't keep them from being hella slashy. Dutch, the female lead, is WONDERFUL. *draws little hearts* She's got a dark and troubled past, but she's super competent and interesting too. Lucy is their Ship AI and Pree is their friendly bartender dude who is lovely to gaze upon. I really recommend watching Killjoys. It's just so much fun and so engaging. I really love the characters a lot and the slow reveal of the strange and fucked up verse they live in is fascinating.

Dark Matter on SyFy: Three episodes in and well. It's done by a couple of the assholes that did the SGs and it shows. Basic premise 6 people wake up on a ship with no memory of who they are so they name themselves by the order they woke up. Anyway this most recent episode Two (the female leader) managed to get a shirt on that wasn't a crop top and I think there was only one mildly sexist situation. I like the women on this show (Two, Five & Android) and Six. Four is okayish, but he feels very Asian Stock Character which annoys me. Douche and Goody (aka Three & One) can die any time now. Robin likes Goody because he seems sincere and is puppyish she says. I would 'accidentally' space him given half a chance. I'd just space Douche the second I could, honestly, he's such a waste of time. The writing is sub-par, the plots and characterizations cliche, there's a constant undercurrent (and sometimes straight up current) of sexism. But it's better than prison on MSNBC.
