My 13-year-old sister has a "deathly phobia specifically of cockroaches" too. And I certainly can't stand them. I don't see how anyone does or how some even consider them delicacies. Ugh, I feel your pain.

I'll tell you how I developed one. My sister and I were going to bed, and I yelled at her for throwing water on me. I *thought* that was what it was. A very humongous roach had gotten into the house (mind you, this is the South, and it only takes one) jumped onto me and I shrieked loud enough to wake the dead. I threw off my shirt, and the thing was *in* it. That was years ago, but I am still absolutely HORRIFIED by them.

This from a woman that can face just about anything, but a cockroach sends me into a panic. LOL.

I didn't expect folks that I knew to respond to my horror filled comments of it, but yeah, this was a good "writer's block" subject.

Oh, I think I'll write a Cara and Kahlan about it :D.

What a horrifying story. I'm sure there are people who would laugh at us thinking of such as horrifying, but oh well. I've been in the position of having a cockroach land or crawl on me as well, and let me tell you...I jumped and screeched like a little bitch. LOL. Shaking my shirt and body, trying to make sure it was off of me. And even with it off me, I was still shaking my shirt at the thought of such a pest having been on me. Your sister is a brat for having flung one on you, if it was done on purpose.

I'm not sure why those little things (little, as in we are much bigger than they are) scare the hell out of people, but they do. I liken it to an elephant being scared of a mouse. It's hilarious. A Cara and Kahlan fic about it would be hilarious too. But I'll leave that to you to write.

We'll see what I can do with that in the Thanksgiving chapter of the Slashy Hollow girls. I have an idea ! *broad grin*

I've never lived in an area where there are cockroaches, and I'm not sure I'd ever like to meet one.

But for me, that reaction is for spiders. My reaction is pretty much exactly what Greatshow wrote:

I go through the heebie-jeebies for long minutes if I even *think* a spider has touched my body...whether on skin or on clothes ( ... )
