Appointment

Everything went well at my appointment today. I went in at 2pm and didn't get out of there until 5:15 or so. They were able to find the baby's heartbeat, though we couldn't hear it. I'm only 6 weeks one day pregnant, also, the first person who told me how far along I was when I called was off by two weeks. But, I'm really glad things went well. The lady that did the vaginal ultrasound found the heartbeat was at 88 beats per minute, and she likes to see it at 120. She said it wasn't bad, though. We also got a sonogram picture with a little arrow pointing and it says 'baby', because it's the size of a pea or a bean at this point. Michael was really excited and he thought it was the coolest thing ever that we got to see what was going on. We've been calling the baby our little peanut.

My doctor also completely overhauled my insulin program; it's a total 360 degrees from what I've been doing. I'm not going to be taking Lantus anymore, and I'm only going to be taking Humulog when I absolutely have to. He's putting me on Regular R and Humulin N instead, because my sugars have been running a bit high. He said that hormones in pregnancy make it so that it interferes with the insulin I'm taking and it's not working as well as it should, thus the change. I go back next Friday at 3:05pm and he'll look over my new week's worth of blood sugar numbers then.

I'm so relieved that things are going well. I mean, I wish I was 8 weeks instead of 6, but I'm calmer now than I've been all week. And I'm glad our little peanut is doing okay in there.
