Catching Up

We have mostly been staying at our campground enjoying the view. Great sunsets.Today it is cool and rain threatens.

We picked up some appliance hold downs in white to put on the refrigerator doors to keep the doors shut while we are moving the motorhome. They don't look too bad an should do the job. I sure don't want the contents on the floor again. We are moving to Hoodsport, WA tomorrow for a Bluebird* rally. We will be camping right on the Hood Canal which is a natural channel in Puget Sound. It is also Oysterfest weeked so I will probably OD on oysters again.

Last weekend we drove our Subaru to Portland to visit my Mother. Son and family joined us there. Mom made arrangements for us to rent a guest room at the retirement center for Saturday night. We went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday. My nephew joined us briefly but he took off walking without letting us know. His Mother phoned to say he couldn't cope with the crowd. He is 18 and seems to have a severe bipolar disorder. He just got out of a treatment center last month when he turned 18. He did phone and apologize to his grandmother. We were all standing around waiting for him to get back from the bathroom. We had no idea it would be so difficult for him. He has been visiting OMSI since he was quite young. The granddaughters had a great time. The museum has lots of hands on displays for people of all ages. I did one that involves looking at a screen display of your face, marking points next to eyes, nose, mouth and chin then they estimate what you look like aged.
I picked 85 and was horrified, I said no way would I look like that! My Mother at 89 doesn't look that bad.

Sunday we visited the End of The Oregon Trail Center at Oregon City. We have visited many points along the Oregon Trail but had not been to the end before. After seeing a picture of logging I talked to my granddaughters about who in their family tree had been loggers and ended it with how thankful I am that their father didn't have to be a logger. He does much better being a computer engineer.

I phoned the bank on Wednesday because my replacement debit card had not arrived. I was furious. I talked to them a week ago and they said the cards were sent out on Monday. The truth is the cards were shipped on Tuesday according to the label on the package. They were delivered to Bellevue yesterday. I asked the customer service person who I should write or talk to about the deplorable service. I should not have had to wait a week for a replacement card. The keep claiming they sent cards and a letter in July which I never received. I have banked at the same place since 1970 but I am ready to change now.

*Bluebird Wanderlodge is the brand of motorhome we live in.
