Road Update
I'm making good time. I drove from Deming, NM to Liberal, KS on Monday and from Liberal, KS to Bethany, MO.
I'm about 350 miles from the Twin Cities so it will be an easy drive today. I think my original estimate of being able to do this trip in 3 days is right. I took 3 plus because i got such a late start Sunday.
I have CD books to help pass the time and it make the miles go by easier. I just finished listening to "Animals, Vegtables, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. She writes about a year of living as a locavor with lots of commentary. Now I'm listening to "Runs with Scissors" by Agustin Burrows, a much different book.
When we traveled previously I was the reader. I read aloud "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver, I read the Harry Potter books, I read each year "The Best Science and Nature Essays" and "The Mac OSX Bible" and many more.
I did all the navigating and it is hard to navigate and drive, I got off track twice today. I had to backtrack to pick up I 35 near Whichita and then I took I 335 instead of I 35. I don't know if that mistake added or subtracted miles.
I need to plan on how to plan ahead for routes and stops better. I used to use the hour before we stopped to figure out where we would stay and I can't do both driving and figuring out the nights stopping place. I managed to find reasonable accommodations each night.
