We have been putting in about 15 hours a day of work during this move. It is not all packing and transporting boxes there is also all the decisions that have to be made about where to put stuff once we get it here. The space that we would use for storage is not available until the roof is repaired so we will be putting it all in the quest bedroom.
My nephew had to work Saturday and wanted to attend a Super Bowl party so he didn't show but my sister and niece drove down from Glendale, AZ (home of next year's Super Bowl) to help us move some of the big items. Plus our son's in-laws showed up to help also with plenty of boxes left over from when they moved to Tucson. R and
wayfinder38 took on the 'basement' of the motorhome and got the big and heavy stuff moved like the big and heavy tool chest. That left 4 of us trying to stay out of each other's way as we packed up stuff inside the motorhome. All of the kitchen area is now moved plus some of the books and electronics. We really appreciate the assistance moving as we could not do it all ourselves.
We took everyone out for lunch and then worked some more on the move. I was too tired to unpack much yesterday. It is amazing that in moving from 340 sq ft to 1440 sq ft I worry that it won't all fit. We have more space but not all that much more storage space. I miss my pull out pantry already. I am trying to be organized as I put everything away as most items will tend to stay where they are placed even if the placement doesn't work well.
Beside the major expense of the new furnace and repairing the storage shed roof and painted the outside we find that several items get added to the shopping list every day.
E recommended we check out Penneys for window treatments. We went over to the Penney's Home store today to price curtains and shades. We picked out some single cell pleated shades that would provide some insulation. Also blinds for the kitchen and bathroom windows. Even at 68% off the cost the total came to over $1200. That's is a lot more than hanging 5 sheets over the window would be. Most people around here seem to have 3 layers of window covering or use vertical blinds. We decided to get some cost comparisons from Costco and Bed Bath and Beyond. We have no idea if this is a good price or not. We have not had to buy window treatments for any window since 1978.
After a few days we noticed the carpet in the dining area has noticeable stains. The previous owner bought a large dog after her husband died and apparently it was not house broken. I don't know how the carpet was cleaned so that the stains didn't show when we looked at the house. If any of you know how to get dog urine stains out of the carpet please let us know. The carpet is in otherwise great shape as it is almost new. We are not too keen on buying a large area rug and also don't want to be shampooing the carpet every week if the stains keep coming back.
I am happy to report I have met my first weight loss goal of 25 pounds. Losing this much should help prevent diabetes and lower by blood pressure. Next goal is to lose another 25 pounds.
wayfinder38 will be having a surgical procedure Tuesday so we won't be able to work that day on moving. We don't know when he will be up to participating in moving stuff again. I hope he bounces back swiftly as he has done in the past. This will be a new doctor and new hospital. Our plans for the summer depend on the results of the biopsies taken Tuesday. We hope for an all clear as if he shows cancer again he will need another round of treatments.
I don't think we will every get used to living in limbo but we have learned to keep on living while waiting for the outcome of tests, treatments, and procedures.
I am not able to keep up with my email or LJ friends list these days. I hope I can catch up with the backlog in a week or so.
