@page 2 - I said 'texts' because I thought it would sound more like dry material... I usually think of literature more as written things in general, which includes literature and some not-really-scientific things like romance novels and such. The "-"... I don't know, english isn't my first language so I don't know what people think, I just thought the cooperate with the two o's in the middle looked awkward, because if I looked at that word and had never heard it I would probably pronounce it coop-erate.... haha.... ><
@ page 13 - 'instead of' flows much smoother than 'not relying on'! Thank you! About the second phrase: I used "and before we know it" because it makes it sound like the action creeped up on them, whereas "by the time we noticed" doesn't give as much a sense of surprise, which I received when I read those words.... I guess I wanted to give the reader the same feelings I got when I read the original texts.
@page 16 - 'We are caught up' is just a more informal way of saying 'we have caught up' :)
@page 17 - library... archives! That sounds much more professional! Thanks ^^
@page 19 - 'fusaketa' is with the "You have that ridiculous(= fusaketa) attitude..." Reflects in my mind, appears in my mind.... I don't think there's really much of a difference. We just have different word choice. I probably just like to characterize my Tobari with less formal english than you do..?

That's good. I hope these can help! Aah, that's because I am born Japanese speaker... Some nuances can only be caught if you've been speaking/reading it for long time. I looked at your journal... It is very amazing! You live in Germany, learning Japanese, Chinese, French(?) and have very good English! I think it is outstanding that you can translate whole chapters in different language... I am studying Spanish right now, but I don't think I could translate it into English or Japanese.

@ page 2: Hm... I don't call romance "literature". To me literature sorts of only includes scientific books and classic novels. Something you reference on. Something like romance goes for me under a simple "novel"... And when I read "text" I always think about short texts... But I suppose, that is more like a personla notion. ^^; (Or the German tern "Literatur" and the English "literature" have diffrent definitions, making them false friends?
page 7: "Miharu: Don't forget to fill up the gas tank" I have the impression that this is... sorts of saying that he should hurry up? (There is a quite similiar idiom in German, so I initially thought this might be some Japanese version of it?) Just being curious.
page 30: "and save Miharu from" - I think kaihou goes more like "release"... (I only know "to save" as tasukaru/tasukeru. But perhapts it's the same?) "Please lend me your knowledge" - I'd rather say "wisdom" or "advice", sounds sort of stronger...?
Page 35: "That was the time of error?" - I think "mismanagement" would sound more eloquent. ^^ And the ", ne", I like to translate these to ", wasn't it?" suffixes. To me it give quite a similiar nuance. (But perhaps that's just me...)
page 36: "peel away" - I can't help it, that sound to mee like peeling of an apple or potato, or wallpapers from a wall... Not like from a person. ^^; Perhaps "take off"?

Thanks for the compliment. ^.^ Yes, I am also studying French. Currently undergoing the crazy exercise of copying "The count of Monte Cristo" by hand. Alone the first two chapters made well 30 pages. Oo But my horrible handwriting isn't getting any bit better. ;__;
Still a lot of it is just covered up dictionary looking-up. ^^" (The only ones I don't need looking up are German and English). I also have the bad habit to check words, I actually know already, still again... just to end up at a too literal translation. >_<° (And I still don't know, what I should do to grasp the jokes... 'A' I sometimes can't even grasp them in German. I totally lack humour.) >-<

@p7 - It COULD be, but to me it just looked like Miharu was aiming to annoy Yukimi. I haven't heard of an idiom like that in Japanese.

@p36 - I dunno, I kind of like the imagery that you get from 'peeling' the shinrabansho away from Miharu... It kind of makes you think of how much of his personality is influenced by the shinrabansho, and how he would be without it.... Does that make sense?
@Inasa - the words he says in katakana are english words that the Japanese sometimes use in their language - for instance "taimingu" for "timing" and "mentaru" for "mental." There are Japanese words for them, Inasa just chooses to use the english versions.... - he also uses katakana in "mono" and "sore" (referring to the same thing)... Katakana is used to show that he's being vague about what "that thing" actually is. ^Hopefully that helped :D

I started watching Gankutsuou, I stopped watching after about 3 episodes because the textures were so intense. I'll have to try watching it again! Hehe. Good luck with that! Vol. 1.... is there more than one volume to that book?
Aw, I'm sorry. Jokes aren't really a problem for me because I'll laugh at anything that's remotely funny (even if it wasn't meant to be a joke....whoops;;;;;)

Gankutsuou is great. :3 I can understand that the graphics aren't everybody's taste, but I think it fits the series really well. Usually one gets used to it, after a while. The original French version consists of 4 volumes, but the English translations seems to have compiled them to one single monster volume. At least this is what it looks like, when I look at the E-texts of Gutenberg.org. But Dumas certainly wrote a real lot. Never knew the three muskelteers were form the same author. Oo
I almost Never get jokes. X___X Through, over the last couple of years I came to learn noticing some of the hints, when something is supposed to be funny. Mostly then I see, it is supposed to be funny, even through I don't see why it is funny. I can't rememer too many things that made me laugh, either. The only thing I almost dropped dead by laughin recently was in the Dorama "Change". That US foreign minister in there was just hilarious. XD. I think before that there was only Inui's vegetable juice in Prince of Tennis that made me laugh. :/ It's somewhat troublesome, because humour just isn't something one can really learn. >_<" (Especially, when I try to be funny myself at will it often backfires and I come to unwillingly insult people... ;__; ) Still doing my best, through.

I love the graphics and all the textures they use... I just can't stare at them too long or else I lose the plot. I have to watch one episode a bunch of times until I can understand the whole picture.... hence my lack of progress, haha.
Aah, I love project gutenberg. It's so useful. One monster volume... yeah. English copies of foreign books are often combined... One of my favourite series, Brave Story, is in 3 parts in the Japanense version but in the english translation it is one 894-something-page giant.
Inui's vegetable juice.... omg hahaha the bowling episode was always my favourite.

Ah, so that's it. ^^ I think, it took me a month to watch the first 7-9 episodes, but then I suddenly couldn't stop anymore and then watched it whole in a marathon within 3 days. *________* (I'm rewatching it again, through.)
I wish Gutenberg would also have as many Chinese and Japanese volumes... I can find Chinese classics through Chinese pages, but mostly I can't read their author's names... (And Chinese classics are really really hard to read in Chinese anyway. X___X) And these translated books... Why is it, that Amazon.com has all columes of "Dream of a red Chamber", but Amazon.de has all exept the first? Oo"
btw. Are there some archives of Japanese texts actually? I think I found one, but that page was a bit strange and the books in there way too complicated. X__X

...I was playing Persona 4 today and learned that a Hattori is the mythical blade of the Iga village. Kamatani-sensei is so good with names and symbolism~
