If there's anything I've learned from our war with XANA, it's that life isn't a game. There are no "get out of jail free" cards, no free rolls of the dice, and no extra lives if something goes wrong.
There aren't any cheat codes, either.
Daddy tried to cheat, on more than one occasion. The first was when we moved to the Hermitage and he changed our name to hide us from the government. We started using Mom's last name, Hopper, instead of Schaeffer. And Daddy started going by his middle name instead of his first name, which is Waldo.
He also cheated by using Return to the Past so he could finish Lyoko. Lord knows what living the same day over two thousand times did to his sanity, and I'm sure having been XANA's prisoner for so long didn't help much. To tell the truth I'm worried about what he's going to be like when we finally do get him back.
As much as our main battlefield resembles one, our lives are no video game.
