21. Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling

I was really impressed by these.  This woman has a hell of an imagination.  The cool thing was that you'd read the story, each of which was memorable in and of itself, and then you got Albus Dumbledore's commentary, where he explains some of the history behind the stories, or how this group or that group wanted a certain story rewritten.  I'm impressed by an author who's created such a deep and detailed world that that works.  And the fairy tale feel was dead on.  They just...worked.
