From or_mabinogi: 4,000-year-old Temple in Peru (be sure to look at the slide show on that one, although I don't see eight different slides, but three or four different ones shown repeatedly). Fascinating!

Because my rant on "Allies" (Stargate: Atlantis), posted just yesterday, largely concerned war-time ethics (and somewhat concerned war-time pragmatism), I was fascinated to read "Fire from the Sky" by Algis Valiunas in Commentary magazine; it treats Allied bombing of German cities in World War II and four books on the topic. (I do not endorse the author's conclusions; I am very much inclined to disagree but would need to do significantly more reading to do so properly, and I don't think I'm going to be doing that any time soon.)

And on a lighter note: Geoffrey Chaucer, in his November 12 entry, considers being a scab in the WGA strike, proposing several tv shows he could write. My absolute favorite is the last on the list. The entry is worth putting your rusty old Middle English back into use; if it goes slowly, skip the other proposed shows and read the last. You'll know it when you see it (and I'm thinking here especially of bentleywg and gatechic! I'm sure there are others who will appreciate it, and I'm sorry for those of you I'm not remembering right off the bat).
