Punxsutawney Phil Is a Liar

Mar 06, 2007 23:07

Well, as many of you may well remember, this year that spunky little groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, came out and didn’t see his shadow, forecasting spring to come two weeks early. Well, if you were paying attention, spring was supposed to start today, March 6th, two weeks before the Vernal Equinox. Instead of spring however, we got one of the coldest days of the year so far. Thanks Phil. No wonder Bill Murray tried to kill you.

In other news, I picked out a banana for dinner that had a large spine. It was a wonder to all that beheld it. It was tasty too.

For those of you that watched the Lost Tomb of Jesus documentary, what’d you think of it? I didn’t catch all of it, but there seemed to be some holes in their argument. I still don’t understand how a poor family from Nazareth could afford an expensive tomb in Jerusalem. I don’t understand why they would carve Mary’s name in a Latinized fashion on her ossuary. I also read an article the next day that talked about how people from Nazareth would label their ossuaries with the place of their birth. So instead of Jesus son of Joseph, it would be Jesus of Nazareth. It doesn’t seem like the academic community is too pleased with the documentary. This could just be grumblings of miffed archaeologists that feel stood up that they didn’t present it as a scientific article and put it up for debate (which is the norm for everything in academics), or they could generally disagree. I guess we’ll find out.

Well, until next time

God bless
