Who:Edge and Zalbag
When:Before the last full moon
What:A talk at the beach
Warnings: Fluff

The Forbidden Hour had just ended and whatever other people were out there that remained, Zalbag gave the order to return to their dorms immediately. Though this wasn't his job, it was something he did subconsciously. He was about to return to his own living quarters when he just remembered that Edge was going to be out at the beach, looking at the ocean as the waxing moon began to set across the horizon. He quickly made his way there. Of course, there was no sight of the ninja just yet, Zalbag can't help but feel that he was already there.

"Milord Edge?" he gently called out.

He was a ninja afterall, he was only seen when he wanted to be seen. A soft thud behind Zalbag and there stood Edge, dusting himself off slowly. He hated the Forbidden hour, it ruined his usual time to be out and about. He liked being out at midnight, but every night he had to worry about shadows coming out to attack him. Pulling down his mask, the ninja prince folded his arms across his chest.

"You wanted to talk?"

Zalbag was used to this, even though it didn't stop him from twitching a bit. He turned around to take a look at the ninja. Walking to the side, he sat on the sand and looked out to the sea. "I'm quite troubled, milord..." was the simplest way that Zalbag could put it, even though it was terribly obvious. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain this, either. There was a festival coming up and he had just learned that his younger brother was here. How was he supposed to deal with this?

Well, Edge would tell him one thing, but he'd get to that in a bit. "Troubled? The moon is getting full." Which mean something was going to go down yet again. But, he wasn't so sure that the moon was the main issue. Was Zalbag mad that he was going to be in the auction? Edge really just wanted to meet new people.

Zalbag wasn't actually aware that Edge was going to be in the auction. But in all honesty, he wouldn't be angry with him about that. "Yes, I'm fully aware the moon grows full, Lord Edge. However..." The blond wasn't entirely familiar with the concept though it had already happened to him. "You are aware that... I've experienced death, are you not?"

"You told me about that once....why?" He blinked a bit at that. He thought that Zalbag had come to terms with that fact. Shrugging his shoulders he sat down in the sand and looked outwards. "There something else going on?"

The blond let out a sigh. He tried analyzing in his mind on how to explain this to the ninja. A ninja he had grown very close to. The lord lowered his head. "My brother... Ramza... He is here... How am I to explain myself, milord... I've died by his blade and yet..." Zalbag obviously had conflicting feelings and wasn't sure how to deal with them. He felt a lot of responsibility on what happened back in Ivalice and thought he had come to terms with his past. This, of course, is no longer the case.

"Why do you need to explain yourself, haven't you been wanting to see him again?" Edge probably saw things differently than most people would. "And I'm sure he'd want to see you." If he had a chance to see his parents again, he really wouldn't question it either.

"There must be answers he seeks, milord. And yet I've none to give. Rather... I do not believe I've it in me to give..." Zalbag didn't know what to do, and he was trying his best not to feel so hopeless. He still wasn't even sure if he could face his brother right now. Not only that, festivities were coming up. He was sure to run into him then.

"Why do you have to say anything?" Edge asked digging his toe in the sand a bit. This would be one of the few times he was completely serious. "Zalbag... when you lose someone you love, and you get a chance to see them again.. it doesn't matter what they say. A hug..a smile, that's all you really need." Edge knew this from experience, of course.

"The past need not matter, then?" Zalbag suggested, looking over at the ninja. Still, he knew that one day, he would need to tell Ramza what really happened and why he did it. And he knew he had a lot to apologize for. He was just absolutely afraid that Ramza wouldn't be able to forgive him for the things he'd done.

"Didn't say that either. I said that you don't need to say anything about the past." The ninja sighed faintly. "And I think that... you should at least spend some time with him. It might be hard...but, don't wait too long.."

Zalbag smiled faintly. "My conscience shall not forgive me were I to not see my younger brother, Lord Edge. So many things I've longed to tell him, I would only be but a fool were I not to see Ramza. Mayhap the past can come at a later time, strange as that may sound..." The arc knight then looked up at the night sky, the moon setting and the stars becoming brighter. "I shall see him, milord. He's grown to be a good man. Much better than I..."

Edge stood and pondered things for a moment. If it were any other, he probably would have made a move, however this was Zalbag. "Good." And he simply rested his forehead against the older man's. "Just don't wait too long, it must be torturous for him as well."

An arm was wrapped around the ninja as he comforted himself with the knight. "I shall not," Zalbag said. There were a few moments of silence as the ninja stared out into the water, then up at the sky, then back at the water again. "Thank you, milord." Again, Edge comes to the rescue.
