In which Conrad and Gwendal have TOO DARN MUCH FUN PLAYING "WHO CAN MAKE WOLFRAM SCREAM LOUDEST
NEW YEAR'S EVE ROCKED. For me, at least. In the afternoon my family made tang yuan (they're balls of glutinous rice dough that're boiled in sugar water and pandan leaf. They symbolise family togetherness and reunion xD. We made them from scratch, which means my mom was making them from flour, and my brother and I and my mom were rolling them into shape, and I had missed this so much. We do this every year, but being away means I sometimes miss these occasions, and I had REALLY missed this.
Went down to meet Nii-san and Kaa-san at KKnM! And there are CHIBI CONRAD + YUURI + WOLFRAM HALLOWEEN PINS. THEY MAKE ME HAPPY. And Nii-san bought me KKM NAIL STICKERS. AND OFFERED TO PAINT MY NAILS. ♥ DISCOVERED THAT MUJI SELLS WILD AND CRAZY THINGS, like INSTANT CABBAGE SOUP and maybe six kinds of PRESERVED SQUID. And CHEESE AND COD. WHO MAKES CHEESE AND COD SNACKS?!?! And so much TEA that I wished I was a tea drinker. Not that I don't like tea, but I'm no Ray Langren. >D AND ALSO I DISCOVERED SENA AND BERN WATCH GUNXSWORD. THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY. :D :D :D
Went to meet my family for dinner. And I had a shockingly good time. My cousins were there, and it always makes me HAPPY meeting them because one of them is a slasher in the making and the other is ADORABLE. We were talking about their guinea pigs at dinner, and I loved having my youngest cousin sit in my lap, because she is ADORABLE, and something about kids who've just been bathed and smell wonderful just makes me BEAM like anything, especially when they are HAPPILY SITTING ON MY LAP. (Not when they are POKING ME IN THE RIBS THOUGH but I still love them. xD) Attempting to get Gwendal-sibling to decide which was hotter, Cloud/Reno, Sephiroth/Cloud or Cloud/Kadaj proved to be a HIGHLY AMUSING EXERCISE IN MASCULINE INCREDULITY. Gwendal-sibling has known of my slash habits since I mistakenly asked him to beta a fic of mine (my first Ratal OTP!) after cutting out ALL THE SLASH. SHOCKINGLY HE SOMEHOW KNEW WHAT IT WAS. Initially he was "THIS IS A GOOD FIC!", then towards the middle, he started looking MORE AND MORE LIKE Gwendal when Anissina's on the loose, and at the end he burst out "THIS IS GAY!" and there was no hiding it from him after that. >D Conrad-sibling has an UNCANNY ability to tell whem I'm thinking about fandom, I DO NOT KNOW HOW. He'll just look at me and say, "You're thinking about YOUR GAY STUFF again."
Slasher cousin and I happily talked about LOTR slash (I once sneaked her out of an extended family dinner so we could look at yaoi doujin), Fruits Basket + Bleach + HP, and it is SO FUN to be able to talk fandom with SOMEONE IN YOUR OWN FAMILY. ♥ And of course I was "HEY WE HAVEN'T FINISHED WATCHING AC YET" and the parentals were persuaded to LET US. : )
It's always fun to watch FFAC with people who are seeing it for the first time, because my cousin told me the MOST AMAZING THINGS. She was "SEPHIROTH HAS KINKY ARMOR." I ALMOST DIED LAUGHING, and she said, "You mean you never thought of that?". And then I REALLY died laughing when the wolf was nosing Cloud, and she was, "... This isn't like Aragorn and the horse, is it?"
When Cloud declared "EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT TO ME!" she said, 'Sephiroth could say "Does that mean I am important to you, too?'
And when Aeris-fountain turned up in the church she was, "That's right, flood his house..." *twitch*
Last year became the past as I was sitting with my parents and my brother, and I couldn't help but think how strangely happy such a simple thing as being with my family made me. It was like when I was in Hongkong, and the moment when I knew I was the most contented was when we were in a park in Shenzhen, and we were sitting on the steps drinking tea and eating raisin bread, on a break while walking around the park. It was such a lovely afternoon, and I was just so happy having my entire family there with me. It's strange how simple things can make one happy. It's a quiet sort of happiness that doesn't quite lend itself to XDDD!!!111 SQUEE!!!! but in some ways may be the closest thing to heaven, maybe, if you believe in that.
I... need a Jenovan's head a BRAIN. >D Turned up at Kaasan's house today and managed to catch yukihyou! XD And burnein, kreznik, kateriya, eiryuu, kyonkichi, kanekoichi, chiiyo, and SENA. :D Scared burnein, I think, because when I first saw her I was :D!!! SQUEE!!! and first thing in the morning, I am a very scary thing to happen to you. :)
WATCHED FFAC IN A MOVING VAN, WE RULE FOR FANDOM ADDICTION (AND DESPERATE LACK OF TIME KTHNX). How many places can I watch this movie in? :D FINISHED SUBJECTING Slasher Cousin to FFAC yesterday, too. She took one look at Aeris and expressed MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY. And SHE CAN UNDERSTAND WHY CLOUD/KADAJ MAKES SENSE. (without ANY of my help!) And she can EVEN SEE SEPHIROTH/CLOUD. And in her first viewing she found MORE PLOT HOLES than I did on my sixth. (Mind never is engaged when watching FFAC, it's still all OOOH THE PRETTY!!)
My entire childhood life WAS Hougang. The Heartland Mall area was where I went to kindergarden, made my first pair of spectacles (the experience I still remember til today. It's seeing the world CLEARLY for once. It was amazing), grew up, pretty much, even without going to school there. We were there to get lunch, and Sena was CHRIS YOU ARE A JAPANESE FOOD JUNKIE because I am. >D AND ALSO I LOVE BUBBLE TEA. The store I went to get mine from had WEIRD AND WONDERFUL drink choices like HONEY EGG JUICE. EW EW EW.
BACK TO HOUSE WHERE SUBJECTED SENA AND BERN TO MORE KKM. I almost DIED when burnein found THIS Gwendal/Gunter screencap parody buried in my memories. Also the consensus is Gunter is STUPID for hiding the fact that he is actually HOT and furthermore CAPABLE OF SEME POTENTIAL under that girly cape and the incessant OH MY HEIKA! fangirling. And furthermore Bern wrote this Yazoo/Reno fic I LIKED and missed out on because she wrote it on the same day she wrote the Cloud = Goldilocks, SHM = Three Bears parody that I adored so much that I created the FFAC cateogory in my memories just for it. It now has some 40 entries which prove that I find EVERYTHING even remotely FFAC related interesting, even keyworded icons and other people talking about their muses. lazulisong wrote a HILARIOUS Kadaj says LET'S MOLEST NIISAN! entry that I found AWFULLY amusing.

Conrad: "Well, she didn't know what it said at the time..."

And if we were the KKM kyoudai, then Conrad and Gwendal have TOO DARN MUCH FUN PLAYING THIS GAME: "WHO CAN MAKE WOLFRAM SCREAM LOUDEST". I just do not enjoy being UNEXPECTEDLY POKED IN THE SIDE.
And because I read a fic last night and had to write this: I have a strange habit. When I get wired/high, I have to get up and walk. It usually happens when I'm at a desk - sometimes I'm at my computer, I read something that knocks my socks off or makes me HIGH HAPPY YEAH, I have to get up and walk. I get drinks I don't need, I walk up and down the house, I get exercise done because I can't get fics or lines or images out of my head. I do this during exam times, too - I like blasting music through earphones and wandering up and down my house. When there's no room I climb stairs. I sometimes have a lot of energy and there is SOMEWHERE it has to go to, and when it's late at night and I can't go out this is where it goes - I walk.
Well, I was reading reisha's Reno/Kadaj AU fic, and when I hit her explanation of what Jenova was and what it did to Sephiroth, I had to get up and walk all the way down the hall. And then I came back, read it again, and had to go downstairs to get a drink I didn't need. I LOVED IT.

Jenova started showing up five years ago, tiny packets of dirty green powder hidden among their normal stuff. Jenova made you stronger, faster, honed your senses and reflexes to a razor-fine edge. Jenova made you feel invincible. Jenova was rare, expensive, and incredibly addictive.
Jenova, as they found out when Sephiroth flipped out and started killing the upper echelon of Shinra with a giant sword, had the unfortunate side effect of driving you batshit fucking crazy.
And that was how Shinra and Avalanche first learned about the Reunion.

When I read fanfiction, I have one rule that never gets broken: Read anything, because you never know when you'll find what you like. This story, it had not at all the ending I expected, not at all a Reno I expected, and I loved it.
Writing about a fic like an anime episode, what next. *grin*
Not at all, and *exactly*, the Reno I expected. Self-serving to a shocking degree, and in the end, the Reno I'd wanted all along.
Also goes to show that with writing like this, you can kill off my favourite character and I will be :D THIS FITS.
Also, ANYONE who uses the words "batshit fucking crazy" in conjunction with Sephiroth WINS MY LOVE.
