Bitching and Moaning, part 3,000,921
Random things that are bugging me right now:
1. Smoking. I'm not a heavy smoker. I go through about a pack a week, maybe less. I'm not addicted to the nicotine, and I know this because I can go for weeks without smoking without any kind of withdrawal. It drives Rick up a wall, it makes it hard for me to breathe, and it costs a lot of money. So WHY CAN'T I QUIT?
2. The fact that certain people can't seem to fathom the idea that I don't want to spend $3,000 on a white silk A-line wedding dress. Because that's an item of clothing that I'd be able to get a lot of use out of, I'm sure.
3. My father, who thinks that because he managed to get a decent job with an Associate Degree, I should have no trouble finding something that pays more than what I'm making now. The idea that an Associate in Engineering is just a tad more marketable than a Bachelor in English seems not to have crossed his mind.
4. Fanficrants. I'm still banned. I need to stop reading it entirely, because it raises my blood pressure to see how stupid some people are, especially since I'm not allowed to respond.
5. While we're on the subject, wtf is up with all the incest fics in the Chronicles of Narnia fandom? Okay, I get it. Most of the main characters are related to one another. That means that if you want to write romance, and you don't want to write an OC, your options are somewhat limited. Still, though, when fics about Peter and Edmund start warning that they're not slash, don't you think the phenomenon has got a little bit out of control?
6. Raccoon, our little fucknut cat, is driving me up a wall. He loves Rick and doesn't particularly care for me, which means that whenever I'm home and Rick isn't, he sits and yowls at me for literally hours on end. I have to wear headphones to get anything done.
7. Binghamton drivers. Because they can't fucking drive.
8. Why do so many atheists have such a problem with religion? I'm an atheist because I don't believe in God and haven't heard any really convincing arguments for his existence, but I don't flip out on people for believing otherwise. It seems like a lot of atheists I talk to are angry at God, which is a little bit nonsensical if they claim not to believe in him.
9. Anton LaVey. I know he's dead, but God, his books get dumber every time I read them. How did he manage to build up such a following?
10. I don't have a number ten. I'm not quite that miserable yet. Although I gather that Rick has some notion of taking over the living room to watch Scarface tonight, so that might change.
