Well, I'm an 18 female year old Sophomore in college (I started at 17) and I've been working for a professor, who we will just call Dr. A, since summer. Part of my project included interdisciplinary work with Dr. B, another professor in a different department. Dr. B and I are on good terms, and I see him regularly, both to use equipment in his lab and in weekly meetings. I have plans to work with him on another research project in the future, but we first need some funding to go through.
Dr. A also collaborates with Dr. B on various other projects. They're friends, and have been working together for years. Various other members of Dr. A's lab have also closely worked with Dr. B for much longer than I have.
Dr. B recent moved, and is throwing a house warming lunch. The problem is that no one except me from Dr. A's lab was invited. Is it irrational for me to be confused? As I started earlier, Dr. A and the rest of the lab have worked with Dr. B for much longer. They're friends. Dr. A invited Dr. B and the rest of his lab for the holiday party that we had back in December.
There's no way that Dr. A and the rest of the people from that lab won't find out that I was invited to this and they weren't (despite knowing him much better and for far long than I). How can I keep that situation from getting awkward?
And does anyone have any ideas on what the possible reasons for inviting me and not the rest of Dr. A's lab might be?
