why has he stopped calling?
hey so i've been dating this guy for seven months. he's 28; i'm 20. he's a doctor finishing his residency, and i'm a student at a university. none of these factors have ever seemed to affect our relationship and things have gone (for the most part) fairly smoothly for a while now.
HOWEVER: a day before i left to come home for thanksgiving break, i saw him and spent the night. things were probably the BEST they've been since we've been together. he was being so incredibly affectionate and telling me how much i meant to him, etc. i left for home the next day and over my break, whenever i called (twice), he told me he was busy and would call me back but never did. then, when i got back in town after break, the same pattern continued where i would call and either it would be unreturned or he would tell me he would call but wouldn't.
to keep the story short, this happened for about several weeks and it began to seem apparent that he was avoiding me. i FINALLY got him on the phone and he explained that he had been SUPERbusy with work and dealing with something that had kept him out of touch. he wouldn't tell me what he was "dealing with," but just that it was something that had NOTHING to do with me and i hadn't done anything wrong.
this would be upsetting and confusing in of itself, but to make matters worse, i'm also leaving the country in two weeks. while i had him on the phone, he told me that he wanted to see me before i left. and let me remind you that we had been together for seven months prior to him treating me like this. so it would make sense to say goodbye face to face before i left. i told him to call me the following weekend (last weekend). he never did. i came home last night, which as far as he's concerned, means i'm out of the country.
my question is: what could possibly have gone through his mind to make him think it was ok to just stop talking to me before i'm about to leave? especially considering how good things were before thanksgiving. what do you think could have changed (without my knowledge and supposedly unrelated to me) to make him not only stop talking to me, but also not even see me to say goodbye before i leave for four months?
