"You'd rather watch me drown than see your hands get wet"

First and most importantly, dear friends, I have an urgent question for all of you: should I buy this handbag? I am leaning toward yes, but it is possible that's because I responsibly decided against the last handbag I almost bought from this company and was thwarted today when I went to a store that said "Handbags half price!" and they had THREE handbags, all of which were hideous and boring. Still, it has owls.

Secondly, I urge all of you (ALL OF YOU) to go see How to Train Your Dragon. It is adorable and amazing, even if the main kid's voice is occasionally annoying. I loved it so much, and so did avatar1983 - I almost convinced him to pay to see it again! Almost. I have now also read the first book in the series upon which the film is allegedly based, and I can say with complete authority that they are in virtually no way similar. Both, however, are very good in their own ways. The idea's mostly the same (Hiccup becomes a Hero the Hard Way, as the book puts it), but other than that..? Maybe I need to read the other 8 books in the series to really get where the movie came from? Either way, I highly recommend the movie to everyone, and the book to people who aren't "too cool" to read kids' books. I weep for the rest of you.

I do not urge you to pay money for Clash of the Titans, though it is extremely lulzy, and it's almost worth it for Pegasus's self-important prancing: "I'm helping!" I've never seen all of the original, but I liked the throwaway homage to the ridiculous clockwork owl in this one, and wonder why they keep asking Sam Worthington to do accents because he can't. Persus, I'm pretty sure, wasn't Australian. Ralph Fiennes had badass shadow-smoke wings, and Gemma Arterton is becoming one of my favorite actresses - she's like a baby Rachel Weisz! Basically don't see the movie - Medusa is more expensive but no more (if not less) convincing than Ray Harryhausen's claymation effects (which I won't hear a word against but seriously).

Did I already talk about Shutter Island and Alice? I don't remember. They were both good, anyway - Shutter Island was well-crafted, but it's not really surprising that Martin Scorcese did a good job, is it? Alice had a lot of unfulfilled potential, but it wasn't bad by any means, plus it had Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat, and if that's not the most perfect casting in the history of casting, then you've got a lot of convincing me to do. Also Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar, so it wins twice.

Apparently what I have been doing in my absence was seeing movies. Also working, but I haven't been doing that since last Thursday because that's when it was over. Easter was good - we had a delicious lamb roast and ate dyed eggs and had chocolate mini-eggs out of paper baskets we made :D It was fun.

At some point during all this we also watched the new Dr Who, and while I think it's premature of those critics saying, "Best Doctor ever!" to say so, I also think Matt Smith did an excellent job, and am both optimistic and excited for the rest of the season/series. "You're Scottish, fry something!"

I haven't yet gone back to my 6-hour FF13 game, but I probably will today or tomorrow. It's not that I don't want to play FF13, it's that I haven't felt like playing anything recently. So, oh, well. I'll get there. Brigitte! I am reminded I have a picture to show you that I'm too lazy to put in Scrapbook and link here. I'll have to email it to you sometime.

My iTunes still randomly stops recognizing my keyboard's media keys, which is super annoying (and only springs to mind because it just happened again).

In other news..? I'm definitely going home for a ridiculously whirlwind weekend at the end of the month for my sister's graduation, so I will be really jetlagged the first week of May, but meh - I'm just glad I bit the bullet and decided to go, because I'm pretty sure I'd really regret missing it.

I'm getting super restless, which I guess is not surprising news to anyone. I'm also easily frustrated these days, as nothing seems to work like it's supposed to, or like I want it to. I'm hoping that starting back at the gym tomorrow will really help with working that kind of thing out. I was mad I couldn't go while I was working, and then I immediately spend the whole first week out of a job NOT going - I'm so awesome. Awesomely lazy and completely to blame for lack of progress. Oh, well! I can only be better, right?

ANYWAY I think that's plenty about me in the last two weeks or whatever it's been - what are YOUR thoughts on the aforementioned handbag?

shopping, seastar, movies, holiday, weight
