"I wanna be with you, and make believe with you"

Mar 21, 2010 21:35

Again, I could be playing more FF13 (now 6 hours in), but I sort of don't feel like getting no stars on all the battles because I'm forced to have the worst team I could imagine (well, if Sazh were Snow instead, it would be worse - I like Sazh). Though I do want to find out what happens now that I've conquered the Motorcycle Slut Twins/Shiva sisters. But to do that there would have to be more Snow...so here I am, writing on LJ haha

I mostly don't have anything very interesting to say, so I'm going to do a meme I stole from elyndys that, for once, doesn't assume you are under 16.

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
Any of them that aren't the rent or internet, which I have set up as standing orders at the bank. It's annoying to owe other people money rather than just paying my own bills straight away.

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
I guess it was probably Bella Italia at Centertainment, if that counts as romantic. We had just been to see Alice and there were 2 for 1 coupons on the backs of the tickets haha XD It was pretty all right, nothing spectacular though. Mangal on West Street was AMAZING though, a few weeks ago, so I would probably say that over Bella Italia XD

3. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Something that doesn't require me to get up at 7 in the morning to do brainless work all day.

4. How many colleges did you attend?
Three, plus one for my MA (which doesn't really count since grad school isn't college). I went to Ball State for a year, transferred to Tulane and spent sophomore year there, then there was the hurricane so I spent a semester at Indiana University, then went back to Tulane. Then after that the University of Sheffield for the MA.

5. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
I'm not wearing a shirt (!!! I laughed when I read your answer, Sarah, but I'm not either!).

6. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
I chafe at them, even when I'm not someone who has to buy gas. Here, I guess Sarah's right that if you can afford to pay for gas, you can afford to pay for the bus, but at home it's not that simple, and there's no other way to get places, really, so gas prices can put people out of their jobs etc (this has happened to a few of my friend's dad's employees).

7. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
No alarm on Sundays! But it's usually "UGH/ don't wanna"

8. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
"Must remember to tell avatar1983 something..." I have no idea what it was, or if I did remember to tell him.

9. Do you miss being a child?
Yes absolutely. Not all the time; I'm not pining. But of course I miss the days when I had virtually no responsibilities and my biggest worries were whether or not I would be blamed for whatever crap my siblings had gotten into (the answer was always yes, even if I was in a different building at the time). Plus the My Little Ponies were better then, TV was better then, and birthday parties were kickass. I liked school even if I faked sick as often as it would work, and there was basically nothing negative about my life. I would be insane not to miss it.

10. What errand/chore do you despise?
I can't think of any in partcular that I mind more - I like them all sometimes, and resent them all if I have to do them too often. I guess specifically I HATE anything to do with onions because my eyes are really sensitive to them, and anything that involves getting my hands really grimy (like mixing burgers etc).

11. Get up early or sleep in?
SLEEP IN oh God why can't I sleep in anymore D: I like days when I manage to get up early, because I do like mornings, I just hate waking up. SO MUCH.

12. Have you found real love yet?
Sure - a few different kinds, too.

13. Favorite lunch meat:
Turkey. Or hot roast pork, if available. Or real ham bits, from a ham, rather than sliced deli "ham."

14. What do you get every time you go to the supermarket?
The essentials? Bread, milk, eggs, etc. Usually broccoli, fish, and lots of vegetables? We often also get chocolate XD

15. Beach or lake?
Lake. Swimming in the ocean is so high-maintenance and also there are jellyfish (even if they're dead).

16. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
No, and I think people who say stuff like that are the kind of people who love to be offended by trivial things and give other people who support equality a bad name. Marriage is not to be taken lightly, but is a beautiful demonstration. It's not for everyone, but it's not "outdated" wtf.

17. Sopranos or Desperate Housewives?
I can't really see myself watching either of those. I'm more a Stargate kind of girl. Or Fringe. And Psych.

18. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
I don't really know - I'm having trouble with this, because it seems to preclude dead people, and I don't want to have dinner with anybody with whom I have nothing in common. Maybe David Bowie or Malena Ernman or Mike Mignola...people I could actually talk to about stuff, you know? Rather than just fangirling the whole time. I'm afraid Bowie would sneer at my lack of actual music knowledge, though.

19. Have you ever crashed your vehicle?
Not my vehicle, but also that accident wasn't my fault AT ALL. (Drunk guy with only one headlight, the far one, turned in front of me at night with no signal and plowed into my hood.)

20. Ever use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
Not that I can remember?

21. Ring tone?
UK phone is the opening theme from Dr Horrible (complete with laugh), US phone is the FFX victory fanfare (CURIOUSLY ABSENT FROM XIII), and both message alerts are Maru's laugh from the end of Wahaha.

22. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
What.

23. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
San Francisco/the Bay Area! I've been to LA/Anaheim and all over Orange County, but I'd like to visit farther north at least once.

24. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
Career - as in, I'd like to have one.

25. How old are you?
25.

26. Do you have a go-to person?
Different go-to people for different things, but several of them are my mom.

27. Are you where you want to be in life?
I'm running a little behind schedule, but these things never go as planned. I'm not too far off, and I'm only antsy about the present for very good reasons, so I can't say I'm too upset about the shape things are taking.

28. Growing up, what were your favourite cartoons?
My Little Pony, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Inspector Gadget, Transformers, Lady Lovelylocks, She-Ra, He-Man, Thundercats, Gumby (sort of counts?), Captain Planet, etc etc etc I loved television.

29. What about you do you think has changed the most?
I'm not sure - I feel like I've learned when to be serious and when to let things go, but I've also learned to be more aware of how I behave - like if I'm in a bad mood for no reason, I can try not to take it out on others (I usually fail, but I also apologize, which is newish). I don't know, I feel much more adult these days, but I also feel like part of this is recognizing that there's nothing wrong with joyful abandon and liking shiny and/or pink things.

30. Looking back at high school were they the best years of your life?
I don't know if they were the very best years, but the last two were pretty awesome. My time at Tulane kind of competes, though - the only serious problems I had in high school were of my own making, and everything that wasn't me being an idiot was pretty great.

31. Are there times you still feel like a kid?
Haha pretty frequently - though I'm also painfully aware of how obvious it is to other people that I'm not anymore. Oh, well! Sometimes it bothers me, sometimes it doesn't stop me. I think we've established that I love childlike things, and I'm not sure any amount of time will cure me.

32. Did you ever own troll dolls?
Yup, I had a couple. My sister and I both did, though as with many of these things, knowing which ones were whose was often...complicated. As a rule, if there was a purple one and a pink one, the purple one was mine, but things came in other colors, too. I always thought they were hideous, but I had a serious soft spot for all things troll-related because my first babysitter when I was little was Norwegian and she used to tell me all kinds of traditional Scandinavian troll stories and I loved them. So when those stupid dolls came out, I wanted them because they reminded me of Rikki and her troll stories.

33. Did you have a pager?
Lol never I thought they were the most bizarre invention by the time I was even aware they existed.

34. Where was the hang out spot when you were a teenager?
Uh, the lockers? And people's houses. Especially Lindsay's house/basement. That was where most of our non-lockers get-togethers happened. And when we went out, it was to Broadway Cafe, or Schoop's.

35. Were you the type of kid you would want your children to hang out with?
Haha totally, though I'm not sure I could manage to take any child as seriously as I took myself at that age. I was srs bsns. But I was also very rule-friendly, smart, a little more dramatic than I like to remember, exceptionally good at sharing (unless it was with my siblings) and taking turns - yeah, I was a pretty good kid. I had my problems/histrionics, but overall, especially where other people('s parents) were concerned.

So that took a pretty long time, and I'm definitely not going to get to any more FF13 today...oh, well. That's what weekday nights are for, I guess? I did appreciate in a recent cutscene further evidence that the chocobo actually makes most of Sazh's decisions through its adorable miming XD

meme, games
