I bet 11:00 at night is the wrong time to start trying to work-harden some wire the percussive way.
I'm not actually sure what I should use for this project. I am, as usual, trying to make a bunch of metal frames for slug-shaped... erm... organic hollow forms out of wire. If I can find heavy-gauge chicken wire that I can bang on mightily, that might be the right thing. Form it over a softball or something. Also may need fabbing workspace that doesn't mind a lot of hammering, once I get this figured out.
It also occurs to me that making a metal cage for an RF emitter/receiver might just be a silly notion, in which case, I don't know. Translucency/near-transparency must be preserved. Fiberglass? Epoxy shell over a balloon? I've also got some skinny wood dowels I've been meaning to try soaking and forming, but since the final product will be boiled, I don't really want to go there.
