The way the cover and title are presented. As invested as I am in this particular flavor of equality, I have a huge problem with the implication that this is the only unsolved civil rights issue.
I still need to read it, and I'm not saying it has no merit because the cover sucks. It just severely mistreats it in a way which is irresponsible for a group that kind of needs better PR right now.
Yeah, I don't think it's politic for gays to claim to the mantel of the civil rights movement. I'm confused as to how true it is (by percentage of real folks who actually have those feelings), but the story/mythology of historically oppressed minorities finding this offensive is a strong one in the current media.
I wrote a brief rant about it earlier today if you want to follow my username to it. I was only reacting to the headline-- I haven't been able to sit down and read the article yet. I hear the comments on the article are quite lively.
