Summary: It's been a while since the two boys have had proper "bonding" for them. And by bonding we mean life or death situations-- So on a task of hunting for food they become the prey.
With winter arriving quickly it was time to attempt to get food for the winter. Which is was all great if you weren't Harry James Potter and Ronald Bilius Weasley. While Ron had grown up in the countryside with an orchard, chickens, and pigs to deal with it wasn't like he actually hunted. And, really, Harry was worse than him when it came to those matters. So why anyone in their right minds thought it was a good idea to attempt such things... Well, we'll blame Hermione. Since it was after all her who had given Ron the idea ages ago.
Except hunting was nothing like he thought it was.
They had left a while before and made the trek to the Wastes with relative ease. Actually, so far things had been pretty quiet, but then again they hadn't gone far enough in for there to be much trouble at all. Ron's wand was still tucked firmly away in his pocket so far, but really that didn't mean much of anything here. Keeping an eye out around the landscape, Ron glanced at his best friend then back around... And then right back at Harry. It was after a minute he spoke up (after all, it had been ages since they had proper alone time).
"What sort do you think we can bring back, anyway?" It was an earnest question seeing as most of the animals they had so far encountered weren't exactly normal for meat. "Can't bring back any of those mad rabbits," he started, "she seems to find them cute. So that's out of the question." He rolled his eyes as he finished, not finding a need to elaborate. "Nothing too large though," he continued, "wouldn't be able to carry those back properly or anything."
Clearing his throat, he shrugged. "...What do you think, Harry?" Yeah, this was going to go very well.
