The whole conversation with Ron still seemed a bit surreal, and so Hermione left the room with her head feeling a bit clouded. She'd over-packed, but she didn't think to actually go back and put away the extra clothes, instead slinging the heavy bag over her shoulder. When she caught sight of Harry, she stopped and straightened a bit before rolling her eyes and glancing away.

"I suppose I'll never make a decent cat burglar, if the entire household manages to come across me."

Hermione actually managed a small smile in return as she adjusted the bag over her shoulder, shaking her head in response. "I'll be all right, thank you."

There was a bit of a pause that consisted of her shifting her weight from one foot to the other before quietly bringing up, "I'll be back soon."

Hermione bit her lip, not wanting to have gotten anyone's hopes up. As it was, she and Ron seemed to have begun to smooth things over, so there was no reason to think that things wouldn't work out. Still, she preferred to emphasize the caution in her cautious optimism, so she replied, "It seems that way, yes. Ron and I have decided that-... that all else aside, we're still friends."

Hermione nodded, not really sure what else she could say. She didn't know if Harry knew just how serious she and Ron had been prior to this event, but there wasn't really any way he could have known them all these years and not have guessed that the l-word would have come in before long. "I know. I'm just glad he's willing to forgive me." Casting him a sideways glance, she murmured, "And I hope you are, too."

Hermione eyed Harry, her guilt making it so that she wasn't quite willing to believe that he'd forgiven her, but her pragmatism knew that she couldn't carry this weight for the rest of her life. If he said he forgave her, then she was going to take that and run.

Her bag landed on the ground with a hollow thump as she dropped it, quickly closing the distance between her and Harry and wordlessly hugging him. She couldn't cry; even if she'd wanted to, she was all cried out. She was just thankful that he was there, and that he didn't hate her, and she held him tightly as she kept telling herself that everything really was going to be all right.

Her breath shuddered a little as she tried to keep herself from sobbing. Clinging to Harry, she managed to nod for a few moments before she was finally able to form words. "I don't know what I would do without either of you, Harry," she breathed out. "You're everything I have, and... and I don't want to be apart from you for so long ever again. I'll apologize a thousand more times if I need to, but it would all be worth it so long as I don't lose you."

She could only nod against him in response, not wanting to open her mouth or back away, afraid that he would see the tears in her eyes and think her weak or scared over something that was being blown out of proportion.

It took her a while, but Hermione finally managed to be able to hold herself together enough to pull back just a little, her eyes downcast. "Thank you, Harry," she whispered, her voice feeling a little raw.
