Summary: Ever noticed how, when you try to avoid people, you tend to bump into everyone you know (and some people you don't)? That's sort of what's going on for Hermione.
She wasn't avoiding anyone, per se.
Oh, certainly, she'd left Willow and Hope's flat after only one night, but that was because she didn't know them very well and besides, Raven and Hinata had offered her a place to stay, too. But she left them after a couple of days, too, claiming that she didn't want to take advantage of their hospitality. Besides, she decided, she could use fresher clothes.
And so Hermione took her time wandering the city, trying to stay out of trouble and making a pit stop to her bedroom to pick up a few things. Other people had offered her shelter, and though she hated being a bother to others, she wasn't quite ready to return to Harry and Ron. She even considered going into the Wastes for a few days, hoping that so long would pass by the time she emerged that no one would even remember why she'd left her friends. Maybe she could even pretend that she'd gone home, and that she had no memories of having ever wronged anyone here in Adstringendum, but that would be a rather cowardly way to go about things. Hermione may well be a lot of things, but she wasn't exactly a coward.
... of course, one would have never guessed that by the way she'd been acting lately.
