It's Really Coming Down

Summary: In an attempt to not go insane with boredom, Sokka agrees to go with Usagi to check on the unicorn Usagi previously befriended.
He had tried to convince her that the unicorn, even a young unicorn, would know enough to get to high ground, but he really wasn't much of an authority on unicorns and his uncertainty had done little to help soothe his friend, Usagi's worry. The rain had been coming down non-stop for more than a day, and with many people expecting the worst, Sokka could understand her concern, at least.
It wasn't too bad out -- at least, not yet. And it made more sense to check as early as possible; there'd be no getting to some places if the rain did persist. So, Sokka agreed to go with Usagi. Better they go together than either of them try to go alone. He left a note for his sister, grabbed an extra coat, and took to the fairly familiar path to Usagi's place, intent on meeting her halfway, just as they'd planned.
He figured It wouldn't hurt them to get a little wet, right? And Sokka welcomed the opportunity to get away from the familiar monotony of life at home. As much as he loved his entire family there, tension was always quick to come out in such emergencies and a little separation would do them all some good.
The walk was quicker than usual, he felt, and it wasn't long before he saw the familiar girl, distant and obscured by the haze of rainfall. As always, he lifted an arm and waved to her from the great distance still between them. "I made it, Usagi!"
