Summary: Potentially a simple trading of informations.
In a way, the scientist was surprised that Roy had even suggested some sort of deal. Not that Kurotsuchi believed that his own research was in any way strange, unexpected, or something that others should have a problem with - but he did recognize that he didn't usually get many people willing to even visit his residence.
And the potential of getting to study an alchemist... or alchemy, the two things were obviously connected - it was hard to resist. Even if it meant resorting to less direct and efficient means like 'cooperation.' Though the city was full of challenges, that one was probably the greatest. As annoying as it was, his usual methods weren't as effective here, caused too many people to think they had the right to interference. Modifying people got him reprimanded of all things, and Roy was too well-connected to risk attacking too openly.
So if the alchemist was interested in information of his own - it was an opportunity he didn't mind taking advantage of.
Kurotsuchi had no critical experiments running by the time the man was set to arrive, even if he'd easily kept himself busy earlier in the day. He'd just have to hope the man knew how to show up on time.
