Summary: Quatre doesn't like feeling useless.
Quatre limped out of his room, being careful of his ankle. He didn't want to hurt it anymore than it already was. He knew Duo was going to lecture him about being out of bed, but he couldn't just lounge around and wait for Duo or Trowa to come check on him.
Trowa was in the kitchen, making up food for the two animals in the apartment. He glanced up hearing someone come out of the bedroom. It had to be Quatre. Duo was off either in the workshop or on the third floor.
He cried out as he bumped something and lost his balance. The blonde went crashing to the floor with a cry of pain.
Trowa immediately put stuff down and ran back to where Quatre was. "Quatre," he knelt by the blonde. "Are you alright?"
"Does it look like I'm alright?" He asked in an annoyed tone. "I hate sitting around and doing aboslutely nothing Trowa. I should be helping you guys."
"You were hurt," Trowa said firmly, helping Quatre get to his feet. "You'd make any of us rest. You tried to make Duo rest."
He leaned against Trowa, one hand gripping his shirt tightly. "I know."
"Come, let's get you over to the couch so you can sit down. At least you'll be out here."
"But I still can't do anything."
Trowa shrugged. He wasn't quite sure what Quatre could do at the moment. If everything was still bothering him it wasn't a good idea for him to do too much.
"I don't like feeling useless!"
"You aren't useless," Trowa said, leading Quatre over towards the couch, still trying to think of something Quatre could do with his injuries.
"I damn well feel like it."
"You're injured. There is a difference."
The blonde just settled for pouting
Trowa helped Quatre sit. "Give me a little bit of time and I'll see if I can come up with something you can work on that won't cause to much stress on your injuries."
"Thank you."
Trowa nodded. "Do you want me to get you anything?"
"Water?"
Trowa nodded and went to get the water.
The blonde sighed.
Trowa came back with the water. "Maybe there is something down in the workshop that I could bring up for you to work on up here."
"I just don't want to be useless Trowa..." He whispered softly, "Duo says it's because I'm important."
"No one wants to feel useless," Trowa remarked.
He nodded.
"Do you want me to find Aftab for you?"
"Please... If Duo hasn't thrown her outside."
Trowa nodded. "I haven't seen her up here so I'll go check the workshop."
"Okay."
Trowa headed downstairs. Duo wasn't there. He wandered through the workshop, looking for the kitten. "Aftab," he called, thinking it might help.
The kitten poked her head out from under the work bench and mewed.
"There you are," Trowa said kneeling a little bit away. "Quatre's looking for you."
Aftab jumped out from her hidding place and padded over to Trowa.
Trowa gently picked up the kitten and carried her back upstairs.
Quatre was idly toying with his glass of water.
Trowa smiled slightly as he walked over. "Here we are, one kitten."
"Trowa, can you get me a notebook and a pen?"
Trowa nodded, setting Aftab down on the couch with Quatre. He went back to get a notebook and pen.
Quatre gathered his kitten into his arms. "Don't scare me like that again Aftab. Or Duo might throw you out."
She looked up at her master and mewed softy, pawing at his face gently.
Trowa returned a few moments later with the promised pen and notebook. He offered them to Quatre.
"Thank you Trowa." the blonde said taking said objects.
Trowa nodded.
He smiled at Trowa.
Trowa smiled back slightly, then turned to look at Aftab. "Are you hungry?" he asked her.
Aftab mewed before curling up in Quatre's lap.
Trowa chuckled slightly.
"What sort of goverment do you think we need here?"
Trowa blinked. He was slightly surprised by that question coming up so suddenly. But he thought for a moment. "One that will work to keep peace between the people here and won't discriminate."
He nodded for a moment and then opened the notebook, scribbling it down. "I found something I can do while I'm healing."
Trowa nodded. "It seems you have."
"I just hope I can do this correctly."
"You'll do fine."
Quatre smiled. "This place needs a goverment and a police system."
Trowa nodded. "From what I've heard just from Duo, I'd assume so."
He nodded. "I have the perfect person in mind to help with the police unit too."
"Oh?"
"He's a detecitve from his world, but I haven't heard anything from him..."
"Ah."
Nodding, the blonde began to write down some notes and ideas.
Trowa sat down on the couch beside Quatre.
He looked at the taller man, smiling.
Trowa smiled back slightly. "Do your ribs still hurt?"
"They do."
"Do you need more pain medicine?"
"Not at the moment."
Trowa nodded.
Quatre went back to his work.
Trowa watched Quatre for a moment, then seeing that he wasn't feeling useless anymore, got up and headed back into the kitchen to finish what he had been doing.
