To be entirely honest, Kuro still didn't know what he was doing, hanging around this casino. His bandages were off, right arm mobile, and only the mildest ache remained. He most certainly wasn't going to stay here, this he knew - this Londo guy was kinda funny to talk to, and it was an easy way to find Killua anyway, but it wasn't his home.

Neither were the trees of this world, but then, their transient nature meant he was never once lulled into believing it either.

He smelled Ceil before he heard him (the boy moved quite competantly and quietly for one so young, like he knew better than to waste any movements), no longer sick but still with the faintly sweet undertone of illness layered beneath a rigidly clean scent. He had seen, of course, Ceil's message along the network about some sort of "toast" - city's gonna burn - for those who had left, but he hadn't really thought that it concerned him, and so he'd pushed it out of his mind ( ... )

It had been a while since he'd seen Kuro. Even longer since he'd seen him in person. He'd been gone by the time he'd woken up from his asthma-recovering slumber.

Kuro was.. odd. He didn't not like him, but he was certainly curious about the boy. Even if he were sort of.. like a cat. He didn't like cats, but Kuro was still a boy, so... At least to Ciel.

At the last moment, he caught the sound of a footstep, turning about to see the boy. And here you go, Kuro. Have a bright Ciel smile. It's sort of fake, but hey, he's trying right?

Kuro felt his whole body twitch once, uncontrollably, when Ceil turned to smile at him. There was something almost Shirou about that smile, and it wasn't the Shirou that spoke nonsense into disconnected telephone boxes, but the Shirou who talked about the night, and dying. He didn't like it.

"...hello." He finally said after a long stretch of silence. And then, haltingly, feeling out the words, "How... have you... been?"

He had no real experience starting conversations, honestly, and was more than a little lost. But at that picnic last week that had always been one of the first things anybody said to him, so he figured it was a good direction to go in.

Ciel didn't notice.

But the smile faded into a more realistic, albeit smaller, smile as the boy spoke. It was cute.

"Hello. I have been well, thank you. No more asthma attacks, if you're curious."

"That's... good." Kuro said, moving a bit closer, but making sure not to crowd. "What do you do with a... toast?" He asked.
