When: September 11
Where: Unohana's Clinic
Rating: Predicted PG-13
Summary: Kenta finally gives up the ghost and realizes that L's temporary insanity is too much for both of them to handle.

L woke up after an uneasy, restless sleep, wondering if it had been drug-induced. Paranoid and upset, he tried to pull himself to a sitting position, but he was still immobilized, and this only caused him further distress. Talking did not help him. The longer the event wore on, the less use he found for words, preferring instead to snarl or growl deep in his throat or else hit whatever he could reach at the time. Often, lately, this amounted to Kenta, but L didn't see him immediately when he opened his eyes.

He had a headache; whether this was from dehydration from too many refusals of water offered by Kenta, hitting his head on the floor too many times, or simply an after-effect of any drugs he might have been put under, he had no way of knowing. He did immediately recognize that he was someplace different, however, and in all honesty, it freaked him the hell out. Things changing were inevitable, and L had had to learn to live with that as a detective... but change like this, where he was completely helpless and unable to confront his would-be killers... this was terrible. This would be the death of him. He started to shiver uncontrollably, despite the comfortable temperature, sweating bullets and trying to squirm his way off the bed. Even though being alone meant that no one was likely to kill him unexpectedly, it also meant that he couldn't die on his own terms, either. He thrashed and flailed, but whether through the effects of tranquilizers or sheer exhaustion, he couldn't keep it up continuously. He gritted his teeth. He would continue this until he made himself sick.
