The time when everyone leasts expects! >D eternal_puppet August 20 2009, 07:24:26 UTC
Sasori had been quite bored. He was eager to go hunting after a certain snake but knew that this wouldn't be the best time. As much fun as it was fixing his puppets, even he needed a break once in a while. Especially with all the idiocy going around. He has seen the post that the Hyuuga had made. Of course, Hidan would have gone for him after Sasori had specifically told him not to. Having nothing better to do, he decided to pay a visit. This would be amusing. He'd even brought flowers.

Sensing a familiar chakra signal, he paused at the half open window. One would think, Sasori mused, that a clinic would be better protected than this. Fully opening the window, he jumped in.

"Surprise."

Defenseless.

The word seared through everything else with alarming neatness. Half-risen from his previously relaxed position, his fingers splayed on the mattress and tucked underneath a pillow; subtly grasping for the hilt of a concealed kunai. The Byakugan threatened to sap all the strength he'd recovered so far, but he located his target: Sasori's heart.

It was a slim chance, and the phrase repeated itself. If this man wanted him dead, he'd die. Sasori wasn't one to play around where Hidan had, he realized, and adrenaline shot through his system. Pains faded to be replaced by an increased heart rate.

The flowers were unappreciated- though they were an afterthought almost too absurd to consider.

"Sasori." Why are you here? The question was in his biting tone, if not his words.

"Really, is this the way you treat all your visitors?" Sasori smirked, amused at his reaction. It was expected but still, humans always did such pointless things. The boy had no chance of defeating him in his current state; not that he could even if he was in full health. "You're not going to try and defeat me in that state are you?"

He sighed for effect before tossing the flowers carelessly onto a nearby table. "Rest assured, I haven't come here to harm you." Not that he was expecting the statement to reassure him.

"Perhaps when you're in a better state, I'm a fair man after all." He waited to see the Hyuuga's reaction. He really wasn't planning on attacking the boy at present but if he made the first move, well...

Neji's frown deepened and his brows came together just above a disdainful nose. The tentative scale was in Sasori's favor. He could move as he wished. Neji would have to deal with the consequences of movement or inaction, either way whereas Sasori was free to take either with little risk to himself. It was best not to bait him, then.

As expected, the reassurance went unnoticed, and he glanced briefly at the flowers- wondering if those weren't tainted as well. He'd dispose of them immediately after Sasori left if he had that luxury.

Words grit out from between clenched teeth. Brief visions and memories of a silver-haired mutilation gave him little love for the puppet master.

He then proceeded to casually lean against the far wall, obviously not caring about Neji's hostile attitude towards him.

"Not talking?" He tilted his head to one side in a mock-contemplative manner. "Don't tell me you're still mad. It was only art and I treat my tools well. Better than villages do at any rate," he said, a hint of contempt evident in his voice.

"Still, breaking into someone's home and stealing their property? Kids these days," he remarked before smirking.

"Well, I just came to visit. Statice and xeranthemum," he gestured towards the flowers before continuing, "Anyway, I have business to attend to now. We'll meet again soon." With that, he turned and walked towards the window.

The nonchalance was grating, and the words only served to incense him further. His grip on the kunai underneath his pillow tightened considerably; muscling in his arm tensing and coiling like a spring ready to unwind. The Byakugan faded as it became unnecessary and nothing short of draining. He knew where his target was, and it was a predictable one. Should Sasori move close enough, he'd only have one chance.

His attention was drawn back to the flowers as they were given names. Purposeful, deliberate choosing then. A seemingly innocent gesture riddled with an overriding meaning. Neji recalled the meanings for the flowers, and Sasori's words redoubled the message. An endearment by anyone else's interpretation, it sounded clearly as a threat in their situation.

Eternal remembrance

He knew who led the assault, then? His eyes flicked over to Sasori again, loathing evident and the message clearly understood. "It was your provocation. I don't know what you wanted with Kakashi-sensei, but something similar won't happen again."

He had just reached the window when he heard Neji's response. Pausing, he gave him a measuring stare before sneering slightly. "Think what you will." Whether in response to one statement or the other, he didn't specify.

Threat made clear and business done, he jumped out the window and began heading back. Overall, it was a rather successful venture. He had things to prepare. After all, he wasn't one for empty promises.
