Summary: Over the course of his confinement in the clinic, Neji gains a few visitors.
With a sigh, Neji leaned back against the pillows propped behind him. The mission up to unconsciousness played through and repeated, matching up the communicated result with some difficulty. Had they won? Did Akatsuki retreat? Were they driven off? It didn’t matter too much, he supposed, as the mission succeeded and Kakashi revived safely. He wondered what price the older man had to pay to live again.
The pain eased somewhat when he relaxed, and it wasn’t severe enough so as to prevent him from communicating. For now, it was all he could do to keep up with everything- though he’d heard that his stay was pressing four days now. His body felt weak and sluggish as a result of injury and inactivity, and the usual anxiety to get up and move was forcefully ignored.
It was maddening to just sit and think, but there wasn’t much else to do- no work to immerse and distract himself with. Instead, self-doubt and guilt plagued him as he thought too much about the cause of Hidan’s rampage.
