Upstairs, L was pondering deeply. His date with Hinata was in a few hours. They were going to the lake to see the giant squid, and L had to admit that he was pretty excited. Whether this had more to do with Hinata or the squid was difficult to tell; L had always had kind of a thing for invertebrates.

He wasn't planning on behaving or dressing any differently for this date. It didn't even occur to him. In fact, he was wearing the exact same clothes that he'd worn yesterday, and slept in.

He had time. He decided to use it to play with Fox.

Kenta hadn't wanted to be right, but something about his last conversation with B had set him on edge, and so he'd used the excuse of bringing L food to stop by earlier than originally intended. It sort of hurt to see how right he'd been.

He slouched against a nearby tree, arms crossed over his chest and mouth turned down. "You don't honestly think he's going to let you in, do you?"

L started, his keen senses picking up on a chilling laugh drifting in through the open window. His room was on the other side of the house, so he had to leave his room and go down the hall to see properly, after making sure that Fox didn't follow him. Something didn't feel right. He glanced out the window, and immediately noticed Kenta with... someone else.

It didn't take a genius to figure this one out, but he could see the steely flash of something sharp and metallic, and only one person hated him enough to kill him, in this place.

Though L's instinct was to stay as far away as possible from the man with the knife, Kenta was down there and he couldn't ignore this situation now that he'd become aware of it.
