The expression in Mello's face was far from pleased when the red head finally graced the clinic with his lazy presence. "I hope that your performance will be better for matters of life and death."

Okay, installing security cameras wasn't a matter of life and death; quite the contrary, Mello himself wasn't in a hurry. However, Matt's attitude already revealed a serious lack of interest, and a slight lack of respect. Mello's future self must have been quite desperate to ask a lazy boy like Matt for support.

"Let's go," he said, and he started walking with fast steps to the clinic's entrance. Mello didn't bother to turn back to check if Matt was following.

"What?" Mello stopped and turned his head to look at Matt, not minding the language much. It was just Matt's way to tell himself that Mello wasn't exactly the boss, even if he knew that Mello was and that he'd do what Mello requested from him. Perhaps because he liked Mello too much for his own good, or because he was plain bored. Or why not, because he truly was a masochist as Mello had predicted.

The answer was a roll of eyes from the blond. And there he'd thought that Matt had stopped him for something actually important.

"Is following my pace that hard for you?" Mello asked with a teasing smirk; any double meaning the question could have was intentional. He continued walking at the same pace, trusting that Matt would walk beside or behind him; it didn't matter just as long as gamer came with him.
