Elysia liked flowers. That was the driving thought behind Maes wandering around, filling a basket with fallen cherry blossoms and taking pictures as well. The pictures would last, but the blossoms would be fun for a bit. As he rounded a clump, he saw someone on the ground. He went into action mode faster than thought, prepared to help, moving forward.

"Are you all--" Maes stopped himself mid-sentence. It was not one person. It was two. And they were certainly not needing help. Sometimes he forgot that this place didn't just hurt people, that some made connections. Quietly he started walking backwards, though it was very likely they'd noticed him. He'd started by being loud, after all.

Suzaku had heard the sound and turned to see a man that he saw only on his PCD from time to time. He automatically went still, forgetting for a moment that he was still on top of Lelouch and in the process of pushing the yukata off his shoulders.

"Ah. Pard-" he started to say when he felt Lelouch struggle beneath him. He breathed an apology to Lelouch and quickly scrambled off of him. He stood and then bowed his head towards Maes.

"Please pardon us. We're quite fine....didn't expect anyone else here," he said, a little embarassed but not to the extend Lelouch would have been. They were a couple and Suzaku saw that their behavior was normal. Maes didn't seem like a harmful guy anyways.

"Why are you gathering flowers?" he asked, his curiosity inadvertantly opening a new conversation rather than closing the current one.

Maes nodded, looking a little embarrassed. "I realized a moment after opening my mouth that you were fine. I just saw one at..." Shutting up now would be a good idea, probably. He didn't need to continue on in that vein. Soon he'd be telling them about the joys of relationships, and he really only needed to harass his friends like that.

But then he was asked about flowers, and that opened up the floodgates. "My daughter Elysia is here, and she loves flowers. We're going to make flower crowns for her, and necklaces, and just play in them! She's absolutely adorable when she's happy, and even precious when she's a little grumpy! Here!" Completely losing sight of the fact that the couple had been enjoying time alone, Maes dropped to the ground near them and pulled out his wallet. It now only held photos. There was no currency here, after all.

"It's perfectly fi-" Suzaku started to say when Maes plopped down and started to gush about his daughter. Suzaku smiled. Maes' exuberance reminded him a lot of Lloyd's though it had a more familial edge than one towards engineering. He never really saw anyone who loved his daughter so openly and happily and though he was now faced with at least twelve different photographs of a charming young girl, it wasn't too intrusive at least to him.

"Yes, she is very cute. She would look adorable with a flower crown on her head."

Maes had no problem with people being happy and in love and enjoying themselves so long as there were no children about, and there hadn't been. And now that they were talking, he'd dismissed the awkwardness from his mind. Sure, he knew who the two of them were from the network, but it didn't bother him.

"Of course she's cute! She's my daughter! And she's here in the city too, have you met her yet? You should meet her sometime. She's my pride and joy." He didn't notice that he was being a little repetitive. He was too happy to introduce people who who she was. "She cooks too, learning from her mommy and me! I'll have to have her meet everyone when she's wearing her little crown!"

Wait, had Lelouch said they were fun? "You know, you guys could join us with making them!"

"Oh, come on, Lelouch. It'd be fun," Suzaku said, a little too taken by the idea. He still remembered how cute Lelouch looked as a child when he was venturing into his dreams and he wanted to see if Lelouch still looked the same while wearing a flower crown a little more than he should have.

"We'd love to meet your daughter some time. Your love for her is great to see and I'm excited to meet her. We both are," he said to Maes. The man seemed so different from his own father...strict and distant. Elysia was certainly very lucky to have such a doting father.

"That settles it, then," Maes announced. He got up, feeling quite triumphant. "Our house is at [x,y]. When will you be able to come? We can hold off on flower-crown making until then! And it will be a group activity and you can meet the most perfect daughter ever!"

He'd pestered them enough, and he felt confident that he would soon have visitors. "Oh! I almost forgot! Lelouch I know, but I don't think I've met you! I'm Maes!" Introductions were a silly thing to forget, but sometimes he was just distracted by Elysia's cuteness.

"It is nice to meet you, sir," Suzaku said politely with a smile as he held his hand out to shake the other's. "Lelouch's friend," he added though it really wasn't necessary on second thought. Awkward.

"Er, yes. We'd love to come to make flower crowns and we look forward even more to meeting your daughter. It should be fun for everyone."

Maes smiled as he shook Suzaku's hand, but it wasn't a mocking smile. Sure, it was obvious that they were close. This wasn't likely a situation Suzaku had been in before. "I'm glad to meet you! That's one good thing about this city, meeting everyone."

He nodded. "The day after tomorrow, then! We'll look forward to it." And with another warm smile Maes was off, done pestering them for today. It was a fantastic spring day; they should be free to enjoy it.

Suzaku smiled, drawing Lelouch back to him once more.

"I just think that my prince needs a crown..." he purred. "You did look very fetching with one on if I recall correctly..."
